SMRT Trains
SMRT Trains Limited is a rail operator in Singapore and a wholly owned subsidiary of SMRT Corporation. After the privatisation of the MRT operations in 1995, it was originally named Singapore MRT Limited. On 31 December 2001, it was renamed to SMRT Trains Limited, so as not to confuse with another MRT line - North East MRT Line that is under Singapore Bus Services and the bus operations merged from Trans-Island Bus Services. At the same time, Singapore Bus Services was renamed to SBS Transit to be multi-modal. SMRT Trains currently manages most of the MRT services in Singapore except the North East Line and Downtown Line. The Kawasaki Heavy Industries & CSR Qingdao Sifang C151B is the fifth generation electric multiple unit rolling stock in operation on the North South and East West lines of Singapore's Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system, manufactured by Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) & CRRC Qingdao Sifang under Contract 151B. 45 trains were purchased and all of them have been delivered to Singapore as of 12 April 2017. SMRT took delivery of the first 2 train cars on 21 May 2015. These trains increased frequency for the two MRT lines, North South line and East West line. Majority of these trains operate on the North South line, with a few operating on the East West line. Alstom Metropolis C851E
The Alstom Metropolis C851E is the upcoming third generation electric multiple unit rolling stock to be introduced on the existing North East and Circle lines of Singapore's Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system, manufactured by Alstom under Contract 851E. It consists of six North East line trains and 23 Circle line trains. The trains will be manufactured and assembled in Alstom's manufacturing facility in Barcelona, Spain and progressively shipped to Singapore from 2021 for the NEL and 2022 for the CCL. The contract, valued at S$249,854,305.00, was awarded by the Land Transport Authority during a ceremony held at Sengkang Depot. Alstom is the sole bidder for this contract. Bukit Panjang LRT Line
The Bukit Panjang LRT line (BPLRT) is a automated guideway transit line in Bukit Panjang, Singapore. The BPLRT is the only LRT line operated by SMRT Trains. As the name suggests, it serves 13 stations in the neighbourhood of Bukit Panjang and Choa Chu Kang. The line is the first LRT line in Singapore and was opened on 6 November 1999 by Deputy Prime Minister Tony Tan. It is a fully elevated and automated people mover system. The Bombardier Innovia APM 100 C801A (APM 100) is the second generation of an automated people mover (APM) train built by Bombardier Transportation for the Bukit Panjang LRT line. These trains are mainly for airport connections and light rail in towns and it is operated by Automatic Train Control (ATC), making it fully automatic and driverless. The use of rubber tyres and ceramic tracks are extremely quiet compared to conventional rail. This additional batch of trains will increase the capacity of the Bukit Panjang LRT line by 50% by 2014. The Bombardier Innovia APM 100 C801 (APM 100, originally known as CX-100) is the first generation of an automated people mover (APM) train built by Adtranz (now Bombardier Transportation) for use on the Bukit Panjang LRT (BPLRT). Operational history The C801 trains was operated since the BPLRT was opened. The first train was delivered on 21 January 1999, which is painted in light blue train cars and two turquoise stripes pasted. Later on, since December 2004, trains has been refurbished with the replacing of "Adtranz CX-100" into "Bombardier Innovia APM 100", and were repainted into a single red stripe pasted on the same blue car. Circle MRT Line
The Circle MRT Line (CCL) is a medium-capacity Mass Rapid Transit line in Singapore operated by SMRT Corporation. It runs in a currently incomplete loop from Dhoby Ghaut station in the city area of Singapore to HarbourFront station in the south via Bishan station in Central Singapore. It also has a branch to Marina Bay station from Promenade station, which will be extended to Harbourfront station from 2026 to form a complete loop.
