Women's Lacrosse World Cup
The World Lacrosse Women's World Championship (WLWWC), formerly known as the Women's Lacrosse World Cup (WLWC), the international championship of women's lacrosse, is held every four years. From its inception in 1982, it was sponsored by the governing body for women's lacrosse, the International Federation of Women's Lacrosse Associations, until that body merged in 2008 with the former governing body for men's lacrosse. Since 2009, the WLWC has been sponsored by the sport's new unified governing body, the Federation of International Lacrosse. The 2017 Women's Lacrosse World Cup was held in Guildford, England, and was won by the United States over Canada by the score of 10-5. 2013 Women's Lacrosse World Cup
The 2013 Women's Lacrosse World Cup, the ninth World Cup played, is the pre-eminent international women's lacrosse tournament. The tournament was held at the Civic Recreation Complex in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada from July 10 through July 20, 2013. Sponsoring organizations The event was sponsored by the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) and the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The tournament was first held in 1982 and has been held quadrennially on odd years since 1989. Teams Nineteen teams, the most ever, competed in the 2013 World Cup tournament. New entries included Finland, Hong Kong, Israel, South Korea, and Latvia. The Czech Republic and Denmark did not return from the 2009 World Cup. Championship Following Pool play, teams were seeded into a Championship Bracket of 12 teams and a Diamond Consolation Bracket of 7 teams. Swarthmore, Pennsylvania
Swarthmore ( , ) is a borough in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Swarthmore was originally named "Westdale" in honor of noted painter Benjamin West, who was one of the early residents of the town. The name was changed to "Swarthmore" after the establishment of Swarthmore College. The borough population was 6,194 as of the 2010 census. 2009 Women's Lacrosse World Cup
The 2009 Women's Lacrosse World Cup, the eighth World Cup played, is the preeminent international women's lacrosse tournament. The tournament was held at SK Slavia Praha Sport Centre in Prague, Czech Republic from June 17 to June 27, 2009. USA defeated Australia in the finals to win the tournament. Sponsoring organizations The event is sponsored by the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) and the ''Czech Women’s Lacrosse'' (CWL).
