Telecommunications In Bermuda
Bermuda has three main television stations, a small cable microwave system, two public GSM services (Digicel, One Communications), multiple submarine cables (CB-1, Gemini Bermuda, GlobeNet, CBUS), and two main Internet service providers (Digicel, One Communications). In late 2020 a new provider Horizon Communications gained regulatory approval. Horizon Communications offers High speed 4G and soon 5G Fixed LTE Wireless connection, with burstable bandwidth. WGCI-FM
WGCI-FM (107.5 MHz) is an urban contemporary radio station that is licensed to Chicago, Illinois, serving the Chicago metropolitan area and Northwest Indiana. It is owned and operated by iHeartMedia (formerly known as Clear Channel Communications until September 2014). WGCI broadcasts with 3,700 watts (3.7 kilowatts) at 107.5 megahertz (MHz) from atop the Willis Tower in Downtown Chicago, and has studios located in the Illinois Center complex on Michigan Avenue. Bermuda Broadcasting
The Bermuda Broadcasting Company is the largest broadcasting company in Bermuda. Sometimes abbreviated locally as "BBC", it is not related to the BBC, the UK's public broadcasting company. A commercial, for-profit broadcasting company since its beginning in the 1950s, the company was chaired by Fernance B. Perry until his death. Broadcast stations The Bermuda Broadcasting Company owns radio stations and TV stations using the call letters "ZFB" and "ZBM". The ZBM callsign in particular is one of the oldest in Bermuda – this callsign has been used since 1953 for an AM radio station, since 1962 for an FM radio station, and was also used, beginning in 1958, for the first Bermudian television station, which gave Bermudians their own TV station after years of watching a TV channel intended for American servicemen stationed at Kindley Field.
