Bermuda Broadcasting
The Bermuda Broadcasting Company Ltd. is a commercial, for-profit broadcasting company located in Bermuda. Sometimes abbreviated locally as "BBC", the Bermuda Broadcasting Company is not related to the BBC, the United Kingdom, UK's public broadcasting company. The company was founded in the 1950s and grown to be the largest broadcasting company in Bermuda. It was chaired by Fernance B. Perry, a prominent entrepreneur in Bermuda, until his death. Broadcast stations The Bermuda Broadcasting Company's radio stations and TV stations use the call letters "ZFB" and "ZBM". The ZBM call sign has been in use since 1953 for an AM radio station, since 1962 for an FM radio station, making it one of the oldest in Bermuda. ZFB-TV
ZFB-TV (channel 7) is a television station in Hamilton, Bermuda, serving the British territory as an affiliate of ABC. It is owned by the Bermuda Broadcasting Company alongside CBS affiliate ZBM-TV (channel 9). The two stations share studios on Fort Hill Road in Devonshire Parish. History In 1963, three companies applied for a second television station. A commission was set up to receive these applications. The companies were the Atlantic Broadcasting Company, owners of ZFB Radio, the Bermuda Broadcasting Company, owners of ZBM-TV and the Tele Radio Company, headed by television engineer Eugene Woods, who worked at ZBK-TV (channel 10, 1955 to 1959). Caribbean Broadcasting Union
The Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU) founded in 1970 is a not-for-profit association of public service and commercial broadcasters in the Caribbean. Its secretariat is located in Barbados. Beginning in the mid-1980s, the CBU created several regionally syndicated programmes including '' CaribScope'', '' Caribbean Newsline'', '' Caribbean News Review'', '' Caribbean Business Weekly'', ''Talk Caribbean'', the ''Caribbean Song Festival'', ''Riddim Express'' and the '' CaribVision'' television news exchange, among other programmes. Digital terrestrial television (DTTV, DTT, or DTTB) is a technology for terrestrial television, in which television stations broadcast television content in a digital signal, digital format. Ultra High Frequency
Ultra high frequency (UHF) is the ITU designation for radio frequencies in the range between 300 megahertz (MHz) and 3 gigahertz (GHz), also known as the decimetre band as the wavelengths range from one meter to one tenth of a meter (one decimetre). Radio waves with frequencies above the UHF band fall into the super-high frequency (SHF) or microwave frequency range. Lower frequency signals fall into the VHF ( very high frequency) or lower bands. In most telecommunications organizations, a virtual channel is a method of remapping the ''program number'' as used in H.222 Program Association Tables and Program Mapping Tables to a channel number that can be entered as digits on a receiver's remote control. Often, virtual channels are implemented in digital television to help users select channels easily and in general to ease the transition from analogue to digital broadcasting. Effective Radiated Power
Effective radiated power (ERP), synonymous with equivalent radiated power, is an IEEE standardized definition of directional radio frequency (RF) power, such as that emitted by a radio transmitter.
