Tayana Yachts
Tayana Yachts is a Taiwanese brand of fiberglass sailboats built by Kaohsiung-based Ta Yang company. Ta Yang means "big ocean" in Mandarin, and Tayana means "belongs to big ocean." The yard was founded in 1973 and has built over 1,400 bluewater cruisers. Designers have included Robert H. Perry, Robert Harris, Robb Ladd, and Pieter Beeldsnijder. Yachts range from 37 to a new 72-footer. History Early models built by Ta Yang include the Sea Wolf 41, aka Yankee Clipper, and the Tanton cat ketch. In 1979, they introduced a Perry designed 37-foot double-ender. This was originally branded as the CT 37 because CT Chen was a founding partner in the Ta Yang boatyard, and they thought the more established CT name would help sell her. The Tayana 37 is a Taiwanese sailboat that was designed by American Robert Perry as a cruiser and first built in 1976.Sherwood, Richard M.: ''A Field Guide to Sailboats of North America, Second Edition'', pages 368-369. Houghton Mifflin Company, 1994. The design was originally commissioned by Will Eckert, of Flying Dutchman Yachts and C.T. Chen, of Ta Yang Yacht Building. The latter bought the rights to the design and commenced production as the CT 37. It was initially called the Ta Chiao 37 and then the Ta Yang 37, before the name was changed to the Tayana 37. Production The design is built by Ta Yang Yacht Building, under the Tayana Yachts brand in Taiwan. The company had built 588 boats by 2012 and the design remained available for orders in 2020. "Under the Bridge" is a song by American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers and the eleventh track on their fifth studio album, ''Blood Sugar Sex Magik'' (1991). Fiberglass (American English) or fibreglass (Commonwealth English) is a common type of fiber-reinforced plastic using glass fiber. Robert Perry (yacht Designer)
Robert H. Perry is a U.S. yacht designer based in Seattle, Washington. Among his designs are some of the most successful cruising yachts in modern cruising such as the Tatoosh 42, Tayana 37 and Valiant 40. Through his career he has designed boats for many well recognized names in the yachting industry, such as Tayana, Cheoy Lee, Valiant, Baba, Ta Shing, Islander, Passport and Saga. Perry has taught yacht design at Evergreen State College. Early life In 1957 when Robert H. Perry was twelve, he and his family moved from Sydney, Australia to Vancouver, British Columbia. Hylas Yachts is a brand of fiberglass, center-cockpit sailboats and luxury power yachts built in Taiwan by Queen Long Marine Ltd and designed by Sparkman & Stephens, German Frers, Bill Dixon and Salthouse of New Zealand. Sizes range from 42 to 70 feet. Joseph Huang, the president of Queen Long Marine, introduced the brand in 1984. History In the early 1980s, Joseph Huang of Queen Long Marine Ltd. partnered with Sparkman & Stephens to build a 47 foot sailboat called the Stevens 47. They named her after Bill Stevens of Stevens Yacht Charters because he ordered so many of the original boats. In 1984, Huang added two German Frers designs of 42 and 44 feet. Ta Shing Yacht Building () is a yacht builder located in Tainan, Taiwan. The company was founded in 1957 under the ''Shing Sheng'' brand name. Between its founding and 2015, the yard has delivered over 1,200 custom-made boats. Ta Shing designs and builds under its own brand including Taswell, Tashiba, Orion and also as an OEM for Mason, Baba, Panda, Skye, Mystic and Nordhavn. The range includes wooden and fiberglass fishing boats, sailboats, and motoryachts. History The founder, CM Juan established Shing Sheng boatyard in 1957.
