Rákosmente
District XVII of Budapest (known as Rákosmente) is a suburban district of Budapest on the left bank of the Danube, in the eastern part of the capital. It is Budapest's largest district, with an area of 54.82 km2, and home to nearly 90,000 people, making it the seventh most populous district of Budapest. Towns that were different in nature, but closely connected, were annexed to the capital in 1950 as part of the Greater Budapest plan. It is one of the most beautifully located districts of Pest, which is partly located as high as the 235 meters Gellért Hill. As the district is part of the Pest Plain, which gradually rises from the Danube to the east, the district's area is almost entirely hilly. The 241 meter high Erdő Hill, the highest point of the Pest side and the Pest Plain is also located here. Budapest, the capital of Hungary has 23 districts ( hu, kerület), each with its own municipal government. The number of districts in Budapest Budapest was organized into 10 districts (numbered from I to X) in 1873 after the unification of the cities of Pest, Buda and Óbuda. The districts at that time: *Buda: I, II *Óbuda: III *Pest: IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X In the 1930s, 4 new districts were organized, numbered from XI to XIV. On 1 January 1950, 7 neighboring towns and 16 villages were annexed to Budapest by creating 9 new districts, so the number of its districts increased to 22. Rákoskert
Rákoskert is a former town in Hungary now part of District XVII of Budapest until it was united with Budapest on 1 January 1950. The population here is around 9372. Location Rákoskert is located in District XVII of Budapest and lies between Ecser and Rákoshegy. An area is also included in the neighborhood known as Strázsahegy. Rákoskert is the easternmost and most distant part of Budapest; it is located on a road about 20 km from the zero milestone, so it is actually further away from the city center than some towns around Budapest such as: Érd, Biatorbágy or Dunakeszi. Even though most of the city is located on a plain, Rákoskert (and also as most of the XVII district) resembles a hilly area. Rákosliget
Rákosliget is a part of the 17th district of Budapest since January 1, 1950. It is known to locals as 'Liget' History In 1896 The Workmen's Insurance Society (Munkásbiztosító Pénztár) started to build a homes for workmen in an unpopulated neighbourhood of Rákoskeresztúr. The founders were unable to finance the constructions so the homes were eventually bought by middle-class families mainly of merchants, civil servants, and craftsmen. The growing settlement became independent of Rákoskeresztúr( 1907 ). In 1930 it had a population of 3112 inhabitants and the number of craftsmen was over 100. Its main street that comes from Rákoskeresztúr called Ferihegyi street divides it into two parts indicated by the numbering of the surrounding streets: on the left there are streets identified by Roman odd numbers (I., III., V., etc. utca) whereas on the right are the even numbered streets (II., IV., etc. utca). Lake Naplás
Lake Naplás (Hungarian: ''Naplás-tó'', officially called Szilas-pataki flood control reservoir) is the largest lake of Budapest. The lake is artificial, surrounded by the second largest natural reserve of Budapest, including a moorland and a forest. Rare flora and fauna could be found here, therefore it has been a protected since 1997. Örs Vezér Tere Metro Station
Örs vezér tere is the eastern terminus of the M2 (East-West) line of the Budapest Metro. It is also the starting place of the Gödöllő HÉV (Hungarian suburban rail).
