The 2nd district of Budapest is a district of Budapest, Hungary. It has an area of 36.34 km² and is situated to the south of the 3rd district and to the north of the 1st district and the 12th district. Budapest, the capital of Hungary has 23 districts ( hu, kerület), each with its own municipal government. The number of districts in Budapest Budapest was organized into 10 districts (numbered from I to X) in 1873 after the unification of the cities of Pest, Buda and Óbuda. The districts at that time: *Buda: I, II *Óbuda: III *Pest: IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X In the 1930s, 4 new districts were organized, numbered from XI to XIV. On 1 January 1950, 7 neighboring towns and 16 villages were annexed to Budapest by creating 9 new districts, so the number of its districts increased to 22. District IV was annexed to District V and the number IV was given to the northernmost newly merged town, Újpest. Hegyvidék
Hegyvidék (german: Bergland, literally "''Highlands''", or "''Mountain-land''") is the official name of the XII district of Budapest ( hu, Budapest XII. kerülete), capital of Hungary. It is a region of Buda, on the west bank of river Danube. Geography Being the only district in Buda which has not got a connection to the river Danube, it lies on the green, hilly suburban area of Budapest. It borders 2nd district to the north, the 1st district (Castle district and Gellérthegy) to the east and 11th district (Kelenföld and Sashegy) to the south. Its western border marks the border of the whole city as well. ''Hegyvidék'' is said to be the lung of Budapest, as it gives place to many of the untouched green forests of the city and it also houses the highest hill of the entire urban area, János Hill (527 m above sea level). Fidesz – Hungarian Civic Alliance (; hu, Fidesz – Magyar Polgári Szövetség) is a right-wing populist and national-conservative political party in Hungary, led by Viktor Orbán. It was formed in 1988 under the name of Alliance of Young Democrats () as a centre-left and liberal activist movement that opposed the ruling Marxist–Leninist government. 2019 Budapest Assembly Election
The 2019 Budapest Assembly election was held on 13 October 2019, concurring with other local elections in Hungary. Voters elected the Mayor of Budapest, and the mayors of the 23 districts directly, while 9 seats in the assembly were distributed proportionally, taking into account votes cast for losing district mayoral candidates. Mayor Gergely Karácsony was elected mayor with 50.86% of the vote, defeating incumbent István Tarlós who held the office since 2010. Church Of Our Lady Of Sarlós
The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a historic Roman Catholic church in Újlak, in the Budapest II district of Hungary. History Above its main entrance is a Latin inscription (CREATORI 1705 CREATURA) announcing the year the parish was founded. The current building was erected between 1746 and 1766 by Kristóf Hamon and Máté Nöpauer. The main altar was designed by Kristóf Hickisch and inaugurated in 1799. The bell tower, designed in the middle of the main façade, had to be demolished in 1765 due to a static defect, and the tower to the south side was replaced. The top had to be renovated twice due to elemental disasters (a rainstorm in 1875). Its present form was given by Miklós Ybl in 1877. It was then that it gained the eclectic look it has today.
