Prague
Prague ( ; cs, Praha ; german: Prag, ; la, Praga) is the capital and largest city in the Czech Republic, and the historical capital of Bohemia. Vinohrady
Královské Vinohrady (in English literally "Royal Vineyards" german: Königliche Weinberge) is a cadastral district in Prague. It is so named because the area was once covered in vineyards dating from the 14th century. Vinohrady lies in the municipal and administrative districts of Prague 2 (west part), Prague 3 (north-east part) and Prague 10 (south-east part), little parts also of Prague 1 (Prague State Opera and Federal Assembly of Czechoslovakia) and Prague 4 (near Nusle). Between 1788–1867 it was called ''Viničné Hory'' (Vineyard Mountains). From 1867 to 1968 it was called Královské Vinohrady ("Royal Vineyards"). Prague has a local-government structure of two or three tiers, depending on the area of town. Vršovice Savings Bank Building
Vršovice Savings Bank Building (in cs, link=no, Vršovická záložna or Vršovická spořitelna) is a Neo-Renaissance building, which is located in Prague 10-Vršovice. The architect of the building was Antonin Balšánek. Description Antonin Balšánek designed this art nouveau building which incorporates several notable statues. On the front are two by the Czech sculptor Ladislav Šaloun. The building also includes work by sculptors Josef Mařatka and František Uprka. Vlasta Neighborhood
Vlasta Neighborhood (in cs, link=no, Sídliště Vlasta) is a set of buildings in Prague 10-Vršovice, Czech Republic. It was constructed across from the Koh-i-noor factory between 1972 and 1977. Strašnice Crematory
Strašnice is a cadastral district in Prague. It became part of Prague on 1 January 1922. It lies mostly in the municipal and administrative district of Prague 10 while a small part is in Prague 3. The district is bordered by Vršovice, Vinohrady, Žižkov, Malešice, Hostivař, Záběhlice and Michle. Only four streets in Strašnice are in Prague 3, while 180 streets of the district are in Prague 10. The area contains an Evangelical cemetery and the Parish Congregation of the Evangelical Church. Strašnice Crematorium is actually situated at the edge of Vinohrady, close to Strašnice. Trmalova Villa
Trmal Villa or Trmalova Vila is a villa in Prague designed in 1902 by the Czech architect Jan Kotěra in the English Modernist style. The villa has been restored, and is now a museum and cultural centre open to the public and for research. Its architect has been described as the "founder of modern Czech architecture". History Jan Kotěra designed this villa for František Trmal, a leading teacher and inspector of schools, for whom it is still named. Construction began in 1902 and was completed the following year. Hus' House (Vinohrady)
The Hus Congregational House, or Husův sbor, is a Hussite church in Dykova Street in Prague 10. It was completed in 1935 as part of a multi-functional development by architect Pavel Janák in the constructivist style. The tall, six-storey minimalist tower and belfry carries a 700 kg copper chalice as a symbol of the Hussite Church. The tower was briefly used to create an alternative radio station during the Prague uprising in 1945. Žižkov
Žižkov is a cadastral district of Prague, Czech Republic. Most of Žižkov lies in the municipal and administrative district of Prague 3, except for very small parts which are in Prague 8 and Prague 10. Prior to 1922, Žižkov was an independent city. The district is named after Hussite military leader Jan Žižka.
