NINERS Chemnitz
Niners Chemnitz e.V., also named Chemnitz 99, is a German basketball club based in Chemnitz, Saxony. Currently, the team plays in the Basketball Bundesliga. Since its foundation, the team has played in Germany's lower divisions but moved up second division ProA in 2002. It promoted to Germany's prime league Basketball Bundesliga for the first time in 2020. History The club was formed in 1999 as "BV Chemnitz 99" by the fusion of the clubs ''BG Chemnitz'' and ''Lok Chemnitz''. In 2001, BV Chemnitz 99 began a cooperation with the Chemnitz University of Technology, which is why "TU" was added to the team name. In the summer of 2002, the division of the men's team (BV TU Chemnitz 99) and the women's team ( Chemcats Chemnitz) followed. For the men's team, the nickname ''Niners'' evolved through the foundation year 1999. On 28 May 2015, Chemnitz hired Argentine Rodrigo Pastore as new head coach. Basketball Bundesliga
The Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) (English language: ''Federal Basketball League''), for sponsorship reasons named easyCredit BBL, is the highest level league of professional club basketball in Germany. The league comprises 18 teams. A BBL season is split into a league stage and a playoff stage. At the end of the league stage, the top eight teams qualify for the playoff stage, and the teams positioned in the 17th and 18th places are relegated to a lower-tier league. The playoffs are played in a "Best of five" format. The winning team of the final round are crowned the German Champions of that season. In addition to the league competition, all BBL teams compete for the German Basketball Cup. Teams playing in the second league (ProA or ProB), or in a lower level Regionalliga, are also eligible to participate in the BBL-Cup. 2017–18 ProA
The 2017–18 ProA was the 11th season of the ProA, the second level of basketball in Germany. The champions and the runners-up of the play-offs are promoted to the 2018–19 Basketball Bundesliga. Andrzej “Andy” Piotr Mazurczak (born 27 December 1993) is a Polish professional basketball player for Wilki Morskie Szczecin of the Polish Basketball League (PLK).
