The Kazakhstan Cup is the main knockout cup competition in Kazakhstan football, run by the Football Federation of Kazakhstan. The tournament was initially founded in 1936 as a competition for clubs in the Kazakh SSR ; kk, Қазақ Советтік Социалистік Республикасы) *1991: Republic of Kazakhstan (russian: Республика Казахстан; kk, Қазақстан Республикасы) , linking_name = the ... but did not become a proper national competition until 1992. FC Irtysh
FC Irtysh Pavlodar ( kk, Ертіс Футбол Клубы, ''Ertis Fýtbol Klýby'') was a Kazakh professional football club based at the Central Stadium in Pavlodar. Irtysh won the Kazakhstan Premier league in 1993 (as ''Ansat''), 1997, 1999, 2002 and 2003. The club was also founding members of the top league and never relegated to lower levels before being dissolved. Irtysh had participated in the AFC Champions League a number of times, reaching the semi-finals in 2001 (the final year of Kazakhstan's AFC affiliation), and played in UEFA Champions League qualifying round in 2003. The 1997 Kazakhstan Cup Final was the fifth final of the Kazakhstan Cup. The match was contested by Kairat and Vostok-Adil at Central Stadium in Almaty. FC Spartak Semey
FC Spartak Semey ( kk, Spartak Fýtbol Klýby) is a Kazakh football club based in Semey. A leading club in the early years of the Kazakhstan Premier League, and under the name ''Yelimay Semipalatinsk'' (or simply "Yelimay") they were three-time champions of Kazakhstan in 1994, 1995 and 1998. However, they are currently in First Division. History Yelimay most recently won the Kazakh league while the Football Federation of Kazakhstan were AFC affiliates. After Kazakhstan switched to UEFA affiliation, Yelimay were relegated to the second-tier Kazakhstan First Division. FC Dostyk
FC Dostyk ( kk, Достық футбол клубы, ''Dostyq Fýtbol Klýby'') were a Kazakhstani football club based in Almaty. The club were accepted to the Kazakhstan Super League 1993 and won the Group A preliminary stage of that competition (although they did not go on and win the title). The same season also saw the club capture the Kazakhstan Cup, defeating FC Taraz 4–2 in the final. Despite this early success Dostyk resigned from the league in the start of 1994 season.
