State Bird Provisions is a San Francisco restaurant founded by chef-owners Stuart Brioza and Nicole Krasinski. Background Brioza and Krasinski are both natives of the San Francisco Bay Area. Brioza graduated from culinary school at the Hyde Park campus of the Culinary Institute of America. Krasinski was trained in pastry and baking under Chef Nancy Carey at the Red Hen Bakery in Chicago. Brioza started his cooking career under Chef John Hogan at Savarin restaurant in Chicago. In the spring of 2000, Brioza and Krasinski were hired to be the Executive Chef and Pastry Chef at Tapawingo restaurant in Ellsworth, Michigan. In 2003, Brioza was recognized as one of ''Food & Wine'' magazine's Best New Chefs in America. Kann is a Haitian restaurant by Gregory Gourdet in Portland, Oregon. Description The restaurant's name means "cane" or "sugarcane" in Haitian Creole. Downstairs is Sousòl, a pan-Caribbean cocktail bar. Kann Winter Village's menu included chicken soup with epis-rubbed thighs, potato dumplings, and root vegetables. History In 2019, Gourdet announced plans to open Kann in 2020. However, the COVID-19 pandemic forced delays. Owamni by the Sioux Chef, or simply Owamni, is a Native American restaurant in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, overlooking the Mississippi River. Bâtard is a French restaurant in New York City. The restaurant opened in 2014, replacing French restaurant Corton. __NOTOC__ History The space occupied by Bâtard was formerly home to the restaurants Montrachet and Corton. Drew Nieporent operated both before founding Bâtard. Corton closed in 2013 after its chef, Paul Liebrandt, departed to work at another restaurant. Like Montrachet and Corton, he restaurant's name refers to the a ''grand cru'' vineyard, in this case Bâtard-Montrachet. The word also means "bastard" in French. After the closure of Corton, Nieporent considered several proposals for the space before receiving one from chef Markus Glocker and John Winterman.
