Ikast FC is an association football club based in the town of Ikast, Denmark, that competes in the Series 1, the sixth tier of the Danish football league system and the second tier of the regional DBU Jutland. Founded in 2018 as a superstructure of between the amateur departments of Ikast FS and Ikast KFUM, it is affiliated to FC Midtjylland, which is itself a superstructure established in 1999 between the professional departments of Ikast FS and Herning Fremad. The team plays its home matches at Wunderelf Arena where it has been based since its foundation. Ikast Stadium
Ikast Stadion, known as Wunderelf Arena for sponsorship reasons, is a multi-use stadium in Ikast, Denmark. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Ikast FC and it also hosts selected matches of the FC Midtjylland Academy FC Midtjylland Academy is the youth academy of FC Midtjylland. Series 1 (Danish Football)
Series 1 ( da, Serie 1) is the seventh level in the league system of Danish football. The division is organized by the regional branches of the Danish Football Association (DBU). The division has changed its name on numerous occasions. It has previously been known as B-rækken (up until 1921–22) and Mellemrækken (1947–1984), before settling with the current name of ''Serie 1'' in 1985. The competition The season starts in the spring and ends in the fall, and there is promotion and relegation after each half season. Each club in the groups play the others twice, once at their home stadium and once at that of their opponents. The top team in each Series 1 group is promoted to fifth-tier regional leagues: Copenhagen Series, Funen Series, Jutland Series or Zealand Series. DBU Jutland
DBU Jutland ( da, DBU Jylland) is the local governing body for association football and futsal in Jutland, Denmark. They are responsible for the governance and development of men's and women's football at all levels in the region. FC Midtjylland
FC Midtjylland (, "Central Jutland") is a Danish professional football club based in Herning and Ikast in the western part of Jutland. The club is the result of a merger between Ikast FS and Herning Fremad. Midtjylland competes in the Danish Superliga, which they have won three times, most recently in 2020. Club history FC Midtjylland was founded by Johnny Rune, a carpenter and owner of a private business in the wood-supply industry, and Steen Hessel, an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer. The two men wanted to unite the football clubs Ikast FS (founded 1935) and Herning Fremad (founded 1918) – clubs that for decades had been strong rivals, but had never played any significant role in Danish football. The Danish Cup ( da, Landspokalturneringen; often referred to as Pokalen) is the official "knockout" cup competition in Danish football, run by the Danish Football Association. The cup has been contested annually since 1955. The winner will qualify for the UEFA Europa League tournament the following year, where they (as of the 2009–10 season) will enter in the third qualifying round. The latest edition, 2017-18 Danish Cup, was won by Superliga-side Brøndby, beating Superliga-side Silkeborg 3–1 on 10 May 2018 at Parken Stadium, thereby winning their first domestic trophy since 2008. It is the highest football league in Denmark and is currently contested by 12 teams each year, with two teams relegated.
