Céline Signori
Céline Signori (born February 11, 1938) is a Canadian former politician. Signori was a two-term Member of the National Assembly of Quebec. Early life Signori was born in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec in 1938 to Gustave Signori, a local teacher and principal, and Anne-Marie Pelchat. Signori studied nursing at l'École de puériculture de Notre-Dame-de-Liesse, a Church-owned school based at an orphanage in Saint-Laurent, Quebec. She served for fifteen years as a neonatal nurse at hospitals in her hometown of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Hôpital Charles-LeMoyne in Longueuil, and the hospital in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories. Signori made a career change in the early 1980s, becoming a real estate agent with Royal LePage and becoming more involved in women's issues. She served as President of the Federation of Québec Associations of single parents from 1985-1992 and as President of the Fédération des femmes du Québec from 1992-1994. Fort Smith ( chp, Thebacha "beside the rapids") is a town in the South Slave Region of the Northwest Territories (NWT), Canada. It is located in the southeastern portion of the Northwest Territories, on the Slave River and adjacent to the Alberta border along the 60th parallel north. 1994 Quebec General Election
The 1994 Quebec general election was held on September 12, 1994, to elect members of the National Assembly of Quebec. The Parti Québécois, led by Jacques Parizeau, defeated the incumbent Quebec Liberal Party, led by Premier Daniel Johnson Jr. Johnson had succeeded Robert Bourassa as Liberal leader and Premier. Both his father, Daniel Sr., and brother, Pierre-Marc, had previously served as premiers of Quebec as leaders of different parties. The election set the stage for the 1995 Quebec referendum on independence for Quebec from Canada. The referendum would see the PQ government's proposals for sovereignty very narrowly defeated. Mario Dumont, a former president of the Liberal party's youth wing, and then leader of the newly formed Action démocratique du Québec, won his own seat, but no other members of his party were elected. Longueuil () is a city in the province of Quebec, Canada. It is the seat of the Montérégie administrative region and the central city of the urban agglomeration of Longueuil. It sits on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River directly across from Montreal. Richard Legendre (born January 19, 1953 in Montmagny, Quebec) is a former professional tennis player and politician in Quebec, Canada. Tennis Legendre was born in Montmagny, Quebec. He once represented Canada at the Davis Cup and had a career-high tennis ranking of World No. 232 in singles (December 1978).
