The Czechoslovakia men's national under 20 ice hockey team was the national under-20 ice hockey team in Czechoslovakia. The team represented Czechoslovakia at the International Ice Hockey Federation's IIHF World Junior Championship. After the split in Czechoslovakia, the Czech Republic took the lead in the main series and Slovakia had to start the C-League qualifiers. Robert Reichel
Robert Reichel (born June 25, 1971) is a Czech former professional ice hockey centre and coach. He began his career with HC Litvínov of the Czechoslovak First Ice Hockey League; his 49 goals in 1989–90 was the second highest total in Czechoslovakian history. Reichel played 11 National Hockey League (NHL) seasons for the Calgary Flames, New York Islanders, Phoenix Coyotes and Toronto Maple Leafs. In 830 career NHL games, he scored 252 goals and 378 assists for 630 points. He also played with the Frankfurt Lions of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). He ended his player career in 2010 in HC Litvínov, where he served as captain of the team. Internationally, Reichel represented Czechoslovakia and later the Czech Republic on numerous occasions. The 1987 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships (''1987 WJHC'') was the 11th edition of the Ice Hockey World Junior Championship and was held in Piešťany, Trenčín, Nitra, and Topoľčany, Czechoslovakia (now Slovakia). Finland captured its first World Junior gold medal, Czechoslovakia took silver, and Sweden the bronze. International Ice Hockey Federation
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF; french: Fédération internationale de hockey sur glace; german: Internationale Eishockey-Föderation) is a worldwide governing body for ice hockey. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and has 83 member countries. The IIHF maintains the IIHF World Ranking based on international ice hockey tournaments. Rules of play for IIHF events differ from hockey in North America and the rules of the National Hockey League (NHL). Decisions of the IIHF can be appealed through the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland. The IIHF maintains its own hall of fame for international ice hockey. The IIHF Hall of Fame was founded in 1997, and has been located within the Hockey Hall of Fame since 1998. Ice Hockey
Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. 1993 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships
The 1993 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships (''1993 WJHC'') was the 17th edition of the Ice Hockey World Junior Championship and was held in Gävle, Sweden. Canada won the gold medal, its sixth championship, while Sweden won silver, and the combined team of the Czech Republic and Slovakia won bronze. Peter Forsberg of Sweden scored a tournament record 31 points, while teammate Markus Näslund's 13 goals also set a tournament record. Final standings The 1993 tournament was a round-robin format, with the top three teams winning gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
