Czech Republic In The Eurovision Song Contest 2018
The Czech Republic participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with the song "Lie to Me" written and performed by Mikolas Josef. The Czech broadcaster Česká televize (ČT) organised the national final ''Eurovision Song CZ'' in order to select the Czech entry for the 2018 contest in Lisbon, Portugal. Six entries competed in the national final and "Lie to Me" performed by Mikolas Josef was announced as the winner on 29 January 2018 following the combination of votes from a ten-member international jury panel and a public vote. Czech Republic was drawn to compete in the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 8 May 2018. Performing during the show in position 5, "Lie to Me" was announced among the top 10 entries of the first semi-final and therefore qualified to compete in the final on 12 May. Mikolas Josef
Mikoláš Josef (; born 4 October 1995), known professionally as Mikolas Josef, is a Czech singer-songwriter and former model. He represented the Czech Republic in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal with the song "Lie to Me", and finished in sixth place, the best result for the Czech Republic in Eurovision history. Early life and career Josef was born on 4 October 1995 in Prague into a musical family. He is of Czech, Moravian, Austrian, German and Italian descent. He has a brother named Karel and an older half-sister called Martina. He has been playing guitar since he was five years old. He grew up in Znojmo and in a small village in south Bohemia. Gabriela Gunčíková (; born 27 June 1993), also known as Gabriela Gun, is a Czech singer. Her singing voice has been described as a cross between Sheryl Crow and Ann Wilson from the band, Heart. Iveta Mukuchyan ( hy, Իվետա Մուկուչյան, ; born 14 October 1986) is an Armenian singer. Born in Yerevan, Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic, she moved to Hamburg, Germany, in 1992. SunStroke Project
SunStroke Project is a Moldovan musical duo composed of Sergei Yalovitsky (vocals, composer) and Sergey Stepanov (saxophonist). They achieved fame for representing Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with Olia Tira, and again in the 2017 contest. The duo was originally formed as a trio, including both current members in addition to Anton Ragoza. Naviband (stylysed as NAVIBAND, until late 2016 also called NAVI) is a Belarusian band from Minsk.
