Cyro Delgado
Cyro Marques Delgado (born 11 May 1961 in União da Vitória) is a Brazilian former freestyle swimmer. He was at the 1979 Pan American Games, in San Juan. He won silver in the 4×200-metre freestyle, and bronze in the 4×100-metre freestyle. He also finished 4th in the 4×100-metre medley. He broke the South American record in all three events. At the 1980 Summer Olympics, in Moscow, he won a bronze medal in the 4×200-metre freestyle relay, with a time of 7:29.30, along Jorge Fernandes, Marcus Mattioli and Djan Madruga. He also swam the 100-metre and 200-metre freestyle, but failed to reach the finals in these events. In the 4×100-metre medley, he broke the South American record at heats, with a time of 3:53.32, helping Brazil to reach the final. União da Vitória is a municipality in the state of Paraná in Brazil. Its population was about 57,913 people in 2020. Djan Madruga
Djan Garrido Madruga (born 7 December 1958 in Rio de Janeiro) is a former international freestyle swimmer and former South American record-holder from Brazil. His younger brother Roger Madruga, was also a professional swimmer. Early life At 6 years of age, Djan Madruga usually played on Copacabana Beach with a friend. As a result of him nearly drowning, his father Dirceu Madruga enrolled him in the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) swimming school at Urca. He wanted his son to be able to play in the water safely, but soon Djan Madruga's instructor realized that the boy had a gift for swimming and recommended him for the Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas team. The swimming competitions of the 1984 Summer Olympics were held at the McDonald's Olympic Swim Stadium, located on the University of Southern California (USC) campus. There were a total of 494 participants from 67 countries competing. This was the first Olympic Games at which only two swimmers per country, per event, were permitted; previously, three swimmers were allowed and many countries would sweep the medal stand.
