Cyril Porter
Cyril Henry Atwell Porter (12 January 1890 – 16 January 1964) was a British track and field athlete who competed mainly long-distance running. He was born in Bridstow, Herefordshire. He competed for Great Britain in the 1912 Summer Olympics held in Stockholm, Sweden in the 3000 metre team where he won the bronze medal with his teammates Joe Cottrill and George Hutson. Brasenose College (BNC) is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. It began as Brasenose Hall in the 13th century, before being founded as a college in 1509. The 1912 Summer Olympics ( sv, Olympiska sommarspelen 1912), officially known as the Games of the V Olympiad ( sv, Den V olympiadens spel) and commonly known as Stockholm 1912, were an international multi-sport event held in Stockholm, Sweden, between 5 May and 22 July 1912. Twenty-eight nations and 2,408 competitors, including 48 women, competed in 102 events in 14 sports. With the exception of tennis (starting on 5 May) and football and shooting (both starting on 29 June), the games were held within a month with an official opening on 6 July.
