Cyprus High School
Cyprus High School is a public high school located at 8623 West 3000 South in Magna, Utah, United States. Cyprus High opened in 1918, and now has an enrollment of 1650 students. The principal of the school as of 2021 is Rob McDaniel. The school's mascot is the Cyprus Pirate. In 2016, Cyprus added Brockbank Jr. High on the next street to the east as part of their extended campus. Cyprus High belongs to the Granite School District. Cyprus High School dates back to April 1918. The auditorium was added in 1973 and the science building in 1978. Due to the age of the main building, it was completely rebuilt in 1983. The school has 63 classrooms and six relocatable classrooms. Enrollment Cyprus High School serves approximately 2,600 students in grades, 9–12. The building of Cyprus isn't big enough to hold 4 grades, so as part of it, Brockbank Jr. High became a part of Cyprus. 7th and 8th graders that would've gone to Brockbank now go to Matheson Junior High School. Magna, Utah
Magna ( ) is a metro township in Salt Lake County, Utah, United States. The current population of the township stands at 29,251 according to the 2020 census, a 10.4% increase over 26,505 in 2010. History Settlement Settlement of the area began in 1851 shortly after pioneers reached the Salt Lake Valley. Early farmers settled in 1868 at the base of the northern Oquirrh Mountains and called their community Pleasant Green. By 1900, there were about 20 families in the area. One of the first Pleasant Green farmers was Abraham Coon, who established a livestock ranch and settlement called Coonville in a canyon mouth at about 5400 South now known as Coon Canyon. SHeDAISY () was an American country music vocal group from Magna, Utah. The group consisted of sisters Kristyn Robyn Osborn (born August 24, 1970), Kelsi Marie Osborn (born November 21, 1974), and Kassidy Lorraine Osborn (born October 30, 1976). The group's name is derived from the word ''shideezhí'', a Navajo language, Navajo term meaning "my little sister". The trio began their careers as The Osborn Sisters, were signed to the Nashville division of RCA Records, and recorded an album that was never released. By 1999 the sisters renamed the group SHeDAISY and signed to Lyric Street Records. Their first album, ''The Whole SHeBANG'', was issued that year and certified platinum in the United States. Leon Weston "Pete" Harman (January 16, 1919 – November 19, 2014) was an American businessman best known for having struck a deal with Colonel Harland Sanders to open the first KFC franchise. Located in Salt Lake City, Utah, Harman's location opened for business in August 1952. Early life Harman was born in 1919 in Granger, now a part of West Valley City, a suburb of Salt Lake City, Utah to David Reese Harman (1874–1924) and Grace May Hemenway (1879–1919) . William Mays Eyre (born July 21, 1978) is a former Major League Baseball relief pitcher. He played for the Minnesota Twins, Texas Rangers and Baltimore Orioles. Norman Howard Bangerter (January 4, 1933 – April 14, 2015) was an American politician and businessman who served as the 13th governor of Utah from 1985 to 1993.
