The UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup is a season-long competition in cyclo-cross, organised by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). First held in the 1993–1994 season, there are currently five awards, tailored to the different categories of riders: Men Elite, Women Elite, Men Under 23, Women Under 23, and Men Junior. Eric De Vlaeminck
Erik De Vlaeminck (23 March 1945 − 4 December 2015) was a Belgian cyclist who became cyclo-cross world-champion seven times (in 1966, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973), a record for male riders. Professional career De Vlaeminck missed 1967 only because his bike was damaged during the race. He also became Belgian champion four times (1967, 1969, 1971, 1972) at a time when there were so many good Belgian riders that the domestic championship was often harder than the world-championship. He also performed creditably in road races, including the Tour de France. In 1969 he won the Tour of Belgium and a stage in the Tour de France. De Vlaeminck never failed a drugs test in his racing career but was treated after it for amphetamine addiction. Many stories circulate about his supposed wild behaviour after races and after his career was over. Albert "Berten" Van Damme (born 1 December 1940) is a former Belgian cyclo-crosser. He won 109 individual races, became six times Belgian National Champion and once World Champion, in 1974. His career lasted from 1959 till 1978. He was active in the same years as the brothers Eric and Roger De Vlaeminck. Albert Zweifel
Albert Zweifel (born 7 June 1949) is a Swiss former professional cyclo-cross cyclist. Zweifel competed as a professional from 1973 to 1989, winning the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships five times (1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1986). He was also the Swiss National Cyclo-cross Champion nine times. Zweifel dominated cyclo-cross in Switzerland in the 1970s as well as winning big international cyclo-cross races such as Aigle and Igorre. He also competed in road races, having ridden in the 1981 Tour de France and the 1974 Giro d'Italia. Pascal Richard (born 16 March 1964) is a French-speaking Swiss former racing cyclist. He is most notable as a former King of the Mountains winner at the Giro d'Italia and Olympic Games gold medalist. He won the Swiss National Road Race championship in 1989 and 1993. Biography Richard was born in Vevey. At the start of his career, he was a successful cyclo-cross cyclist, becoming world champion in this discipline in 1988.
