Albert Zweifel
Albert Zweifel (born 7 June 1949) is a Swiss former professional cyclo-cross cyclist. Zweifel competed as a professional from 1973 to 1989, winning the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships five times (1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1986). He was also the Swiss National Cyclo-cross Champion nine times. Zweifel dominated cyclo-cross in Switzerland in the 1970s as well as winning big international cyclo-cross races such as Aigle and Igorre. He also competed in road races, having ridden in the 1981 Tour de France and the 1974 Giro d'Italia. The Tour de Suisse ( en, Tour of Switzerland) is an annual road cycling stage race. Raced over eight days, the event covers two weekends in June, and along with the Critérium du Dauphiné, it is considered a proving ground for the Tour de France, which is on the calendar approximately two weeks after the end of the Tour de Suisse. Since 2011 the event is part of the UCI World Tour, cycling's highest level of professional races. History The race was first held in 1933 and has evolved in timing, duration and sponsorship. Like the Tour de France and the Dauphiné, the Tour de Suisse has several stages with significant mountain climbs in the Swiss Alps and at least one individual time trial. 1974 Giro D'Italia
The 1974 Giro d'Italia was the 57th running of the Giro, one of cycling's Grand Tours. It started in Vatican City, on 16 May, with a stage and concluded in Milan, on 8 June, with leg. A total of 140 riders from fourteen teams entered the 22-stage race, that was won by Belgian Eddy Merckx of the Molteni team. The second and third places were taken by Italians Gianbattista Baronchelli (Scic) and Felice Gimondi ( Bianchi), respectively. Amongst the other classifications that the race awarded, Roger De Vlaeminck () won the points classification and José Manuel Fuente of KAS won the mountains classification. KAS finished as the winners of the team points classification. 1981 Tour De France
The 1981 Tour de France was the 68th edition of the Tour de France, taking place between 25 June and 19 July. The total race distance was 24 stages over . It was dominated by Bernard Hinault, who led the race from the sixth stage on, increasing his lead almost every stage. Only Phil Anderson was able to stay close to him, until the 16th stage when he fell behind by about 7:00, and then on the 17th stage he would lose another 17 minutes. In the end only Lucien Van Impe, Robert Alban and Joop Zoetemelk were able to finish inside 20:00 of the now three time champ. The points classification was won by Freddy Maertens, who did so by winning five stages.
