Cyclone Temple
Cyclone Temple was an American thrash metal band formed from the remnants of Znöwhite, in Chicago, Illinois. The two key members responsible for producing Znöwhite's ''Act of God'' Scott Schafer and Ian Tafoya – now using his given name Greg Fulton – found lead vocalist Brian Troch and formed Cyclone Temple and released ''I Hate Therefore I Am''. The band never received commercial attention, due to the grunge explosion of the 1990s. History Cyclone Temple started life as Znöwhite. After vocalist Debbie Gunn left Znowhite for unspecified health reasons the three remaining members of Znowhite (Greg Fulton, Scott Schafer, and John Slattery) recruited singer Brian Troch (formerly of the local Chicago band Hammeron). They performed for a brief period of time as Znowhite, but after signing with Combat Records they decided to change the name of the band to Cyclone Temple. Relativity Records was an American record label founded by Barry Kobrin at the site of his company, Important Record Distributors (IRD) in metro New York. Relativity released music that covers a wide variety of musical genres. When it entered into a deal with Sony Music Entertainment, it became more known for its heavy metal and hip hop releases. Combat Records was an American independent record label founded in 1983 and based in New York City. Soil (American Band)
Soil (often stylized as SOiL) is an American rock band that was formed in Chicago, Illinois in 1997. After some independent releases, the band was the first rock group signed to J Records and achieved mainstream success with their major label debut, ''Scars'', in 2001. The J Records second album, '' Redefine'', was released in 2004 and the band embarked upon a worldwide tour to follow. In late 2004, frontman Ryan McCombs left the group. He would go on to become the new vocalist of Drowning Pool the following year. The band recruited ex-Diesel Machine vocalist A.J. Cavalier as its new singer and released two more studio albums (''True Self'' and '' Picture Perfect'') through independent labels in 2006 and 2009 respectively. From Zero
From Zero was a nu metal band from Chicago, Illinois. History Formation and major label debut From Zero was formed in 1998. From Zero's music was distinguished from many earlier nu metal groups with its greater focus on melodies and correspondingly fewer elements of rap metal. In 1999, the band independently released their self-titled EP (referred to as "The Green Album"). The album locally sold over 6,000 copies and attracted the attention of major record labels. They later signed with Arista Records and began opening for bands such as Disturbed. Their first album, ''One Nation Under'', was released in 2001. The band promoted the album using a self-published website, allowing fans to personally communicate with band members while they were on tour. Znowhite or Znöwhite were an American thrash/speed metal band who have been credited for helping to pioneer thrash metal in Chicago.Christe (2003), p. 206, "''Two black musicians from Chicago helped found that city's thrash metal scene: towering seven-foot guitarist Ian Tafoya of Znowhite, and denim-bedecked bassist Calvin Humphrey of Zoetrope.''"
