Cyclo (film)
''Cyclo'' ( vi, Xích Lô ) is a 1995 film by Tran Anh Hung (who had made '' The Scent of Green Papaya''). It stars Lê Văn Lộc, Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Trần Nữ Yên Khê. The film won the Golden Lion at the 52nd Venice International Film Festival. It is about the hard lives of the labor force in early 1990s Ho Chi Minh City, and how people come under the influence of crime. The film is considered hard to understand because of abstract and wordless communication. Trần Anh Hùng
Trần Anh Hùng (born December 23, 1962) is a Vietnamese people, Vietnamese-born French film director and screenwriter. Early life Hùng was born in Mỹ Tho, South Vietnam. Following the fall of Saigon at the end of the Vietnam War in 1975, he immigrated to France at age 12. He majored in philosophy at a university in France. By chance, he saw Robert Bresson's film ''A Man Escaped'' and decided to study film instead. He went on to study photography at the École nationale supérieure Louis-Lumière, Louis Lumiere Academy, which trains cinematographers. ''The Scent of Green Papaya'' (Vietnamese: ''Mùi đu đủ xanh'', French: ''L'Odeur de la papaye verte'') is a 1993 Vietnamese-language film produced in France by Lazennec Production, directed by Vietnamese-French director Tran Anh Hung, and starring Tran Nu Yên-Khê, Man San Lu, and Thi Loc Truong. "Creep" is the debut single by the English rock band Radiohead, released on 21 September 1992. It appeared on their debut studio album, ''Pablo Honey'' (1993). Thom Yorke's lyrics express an obsessive, self-destructive sexual attraction. When the song moves to the chorus, Jonny Greenwood produces blasts of guitar noise. Janet R. Maslin (born August 12, 1949) is an American journalist, best known as a film and literary critic for ''The New York Times''.
