Curtis Johnston is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who last played for the North Sydney Bears in the Canterbury Cup NSW competition. Background Johnston was born in Darlinghurst, Sydney on 17 August 1989 and grew up in Chatswood until the age of 10 when he moved to Berowra in Sydney's far North. Playing career North Sydney Johnston played 7 seasons of NSW Cup with North Sydney scoring 97 tries over 110 games before moving clubs to Redcliffe Dolphins at the end of 2014 he has scored 21 tries over 47 games with the Dolphins. Johnston debuted as an 18 year old for North Sydney Bears against Cronulla Cobras in 2008 at the Central Coast Stadium. 2019 Canterbury Cup NSW
The 2019 Canterbury Cup NSW season was the eleventh season of the New South Wales Cup, the top rugby league competition administered by the New South Wales Rugby League. The competition acts as a second-tier league to the ten New South Wales-based National Rugby League clubs, as well the Canberra Raiders and New Zealand Warriors. North Sydney Oval
North Sydney Oval is a multi-use sporting facility in North Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, owned and operated by North Sydney Council. First used as a cricket ground in 1867, it is also used for Australian rules football, rugby league, rugby union and soccer. History Development The first cricket pitch was laid on 6 December 1867, making it one of the oldest cricket grounds in Australia. A simple pavilion overlooking the cricket ground was the first structure at the oval, built in 1879 and replaced in 1909. This was replaced by another pavilion which in turn was replaced by what is now the Duncan Thompson Stand in 1929. The venue was renovated in 1931 due to complaints that the surface was 'like concrete' and that the ground was liable to cause serious injury to players. Nonetheless, as late as the 1980s, the ground was sometimes referred to as "Concrete Park". The Burleigh Bears are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in Gold Coast, Australia. They compete in Queensland's top rugby league competition, the Queensland Cup. Since their admission to the competition in 1997, the club has appeared in six Grand Finals, winning four (1999, 2004, 2016 and 2019) and won the minor premiership twice (2003 and 2004).
