Currumbin Valley is a rural locality in the City of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. It borders New South Wales. In the , Currumbin Valley had a population of 1,849 people. Geography Currumbin Valley is in the Gold Coast hinterland of South East Queensland bounded to the south by the Queensland border with New South Wales. The valley is relatively small in size being approximately twenty-four kilometers long and around four kilometers wide. Furthermore, Currumbin Valley provides both rural and residential land but is predominantly rural. Currumbin Valley is a unique part of Australia’s Green Cauldron, being the first valley to the north of the escarpment of the cauldron (the temple of which is Mount Warning) in the Murwillumbah region, to the south. Currumbin Creek
The Currumbin Creek is a creek located in South East Queensland, Australia. Its catchment lies within the Gold Coast local government area and covers an area of . The river is approximately in length and provides a popular and tranquil setting for many rowing clubs, kayakers, jet skiers, boat-goers and fishermen. Course and features The Currumbin Creek rises in the Gold Coast hinterland below Mount Cougal in the Springbrook National Park, west of the New South Wales settlement of Tomewin and north of the New South Wales/Queensland border. Nicoll Scrub National Park
Nicoll Scrub is a national park in South East Queensland, Australia, 88 km southeast of Brisbane. It adjoins the Currumbin Valley Reserve and protects remnant rainforest vegetation. The park occupies the area between Mount Coolagang and Mount Boololagung of the McPherson Range. Topography and geology The park's highest point is 180 m above sea level. Soils and geology of Nicoll Scrub National Park is characterized by hills of palaeozoic metasediments and phyllites with cappings of tertiary basalt. Springbrook is a rural town and locality in the City of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Springbrook had a population of 659 people. The locality borders New South Wales. Geography The plateau is covered in subtropical rainforest and crossed by many small creeks. The area has excellent views to the Gold Coast and is known for its cliffs, waterfalls and forest walks, most of which are protected in the Springbrook National Park. Road access to this eastern Scenic Rim mountain is via Mudgeeraba along the Springbrook Road and from Numinbah Valley via Pine Creek Road. Cooling Down
Cooling down (also known as limbering down or warming down) is an important transition, done after intense activity, to allow the body to gradually return to resting or near-resting state. Depending on the intensity of the exercise, cooling down after a workout method such as intense weight lifting can involve a slow jog or walk. Alexander Mayes
Alexander Mayes (1859–1941) was a builder and politician in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. He was Mayor of Toowoomba. Early life Alexander Mayes was born on 17 July 1859 in Largo, Fifeshire, Scotland. He learned his trade as a builder in Edinburgh, London and Glasgow. Mayes moved to Toowoomba in June 1886 at the age of 26. Business life Mayes spent 35 years in Toowoomba, becoming a prominent builder. He is known to have worked on the Toowoomba City Hall, Toowoomba Post Office, Tooowoomba Masonic Hall, Commercial Bank, Toowoomba Technical College and Vacy Hall and many private homes. Springbrook National Park
The Springbrook National Park is a protected national park that is located in the Gold Coast hinterland of Queensland, Australia. The park is situated on the McPherson Range, near Springbrook, approximately south of Brisbane. The park is part of the Shield Volcano Group of the UNESCO World Heritagelisted Gondwana Rainforests of Australia. In December 1994, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee officially extended the area now known as the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area over the Scenic Rim (including Main Range, Mount Barney, Lamington, and Springbrook National Parks, and Goomburra Forest Reserve) and the rainforests of northern New South Wales.
