Nicoll Scrub National Park
Nicoll Scrub is a national park in South East Queensland, Australia, 88 km southeast of Brisbane. It adjoins the Currumbin Valley Reserve and protects remnant rainforest vegetation. The park occupies the area between Mount Coolagang and Mount Boololagung of the McPherson Range. Topography and geology The park's highest point is 180 m above sea level. Soils and geology of Nicoll Scrub National Park is characterized by hills of palaeozoic metasediments and phyllites with cappings of tertiary basalt. Flora and fauna The park has a rich diversity of plant life. It has five types of rainforest. It has a total of 200 plant species, of which two are endangered and six fall in the vulnerable species category. Tweed Heads
Tweed Heads is a town in New South Wales. It is located on the Tweed River in north-eastern New South Wales, Australia, in Tweed Shire, next to the border with Queensland and adjacent to its "twin town" of Coolangatta, which is a suburb of the Gold Coast. Currumbin Valley Reserve
Currumbin Valley Reserve is a 4 ha nature reserve in the Gold Coast hinterland of south-east Queensland, Australia, west of Coolangatta, south of Brisbane. It is owned and managed by Bush Heritage Australia (BHA), to which it was donated in 1999 by the Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland according to the wishes of the previous owner, Dr Alex Griffiths, founder of the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. With the adjacent Nicoll Scrub National Park it forms the only large area of rainforest remaining in the lower Currumbin Valley. The grey-headed flying fox (''Pteropus poliocephalus'') is a megabat native to Australia.
