Curran Oi (born October 19, 1990) is an American figure skater. He won two ISU Junior Grand Prix silver medals and placed fifth at the 2009 World Junior Championships. He is the founder of ''Stats on Ice'', an online statistics database on figure skaters. Personal life Oi was born on October 19, 1990, in Boston, Massachusetts. He is the brother of Bryna Oi, the 2011 Japanese national ice dancing champion with Taiyo Mizutani. His brother, Aidan Oi, competed in swimming and attended Boston University Academy. Oi began attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2009, graduating in 2013 with a degree in nuclear engineering and physics. Curran Michael Phillips (born July 8, 2000) is an American former artistic gymnast. He was a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team and was the 2023 Pan American champion on the horizontal bar and 2023 Pan American Games champion on parallel bars. He competed in collegiate gymnastics for Stanford. Early life and education Phillips was born in Naperville, Illinois on July 8, 2000, to Debbie and Mike Phillips. He has one sister. In 2018, he graduated from Naperville North High School. He enrolled at Stanford University to pursue gymnastics. Curran is a Microcrystalline cellulose, microcrystalline nanocellulose fibre derived from the pulp of root vegetables. It was developed by Scottish scientists David Hepworth and Eric Whale, with funding from the Scottish Government. The sources of root vegetable pulp used to manufacture Curran include carrots, sugar beets, and turnips. It is named after wikt:curran#Scottish Gaelic, ''curran'', the Scottish Gaelic word for "carrot". The material was developed as a potential substitute for Carbon fibers, carbon fibre and is often used in polymer composites. It has numerous industrial and technological applications, especially for the production of paints and sporting equipment. Alfred and Plantagenet is a Franco-Ontarian township in eastern Ontario, Canada, in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell. Located approximately from downtown Ottawa at the confluence of the Ottawa River and the South Nation River. The township was formed on January 1, 1997, through the amalgamation of the townships of Alfred and North Plantagenet and the villages of Alfred and Plantagenet. Curran () is a small village and townland in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. In the 2001 Census it had a population of 132 people. It is within the Mid-Ulster District Council area, specifically within the Moyola District Electoral Area. The village is in the Mid-Ulster constituency for Westminster and Northern Ireland Assembly elections. Once a thriving market village, Curran has been superseded in recent years by other surrounding towns and villages. The shop, post office and primary school have all closed, the latter being amalgamated with the new primary school in nearby Knockloughrim in 1979.
