Mick Curley
Michael "Mick" Curley (born 1953/1954) is a former Gaelic football referee from County Galway. Career Curley refereeing career peaked in the 1990s when he officiated the 1999 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final, the only one between 1998 and 2001 not to involve his native Galway. He officiated Leinster SFC, Munster SFC and Ulster SFC finals, as well as three Connacht SFC finals. He quit refereeing in 2005, citing issues with knee cartilage as hampering his fitness. He also officiated the 1998 and 1999 International Rules Series. Following a 1999 National League game between Cavan and Wexford at Breffni Park, the Wexford manager Jo Jo Barrett assaulted Curley and received a two-year ban. Michael Curley (15 May 1912 – 1973) was an English footballer who played for Northwich Victoria, Manchester City, Port Vale, Colwyn Bay, and Macclesfield Town in the 1930s. Career Curley played for Northwich Victoria and Manchester City, before joining Port Vale in May 1935. He played 24 Second Division and three FA Cup games in the 1935–36 season, and scored one goal in a 2–1 victory over Charlton Athletic at The Old Recreation Ground on 16 September. The "Valiants" were relegated and Curley fell out of the first team picture, featuring in just three Third Division North games in the 1936–37 season. He transferred to Colwyn Bay in November 1936, and later moved on to Macclesfield Town but only featured in the opening two games of 1937–38 Cheshire County League season and after spending time in the reserves he returned to Northwich Victoria. Leo Francis Curley (April 6, 1915 – December 11, 1950) was the son of American politician James Michael Curley. Seen by the elder Curley as his successor in politics, Curley served as the city's traffic commissioner during his father's final term as Mayor of Boston. Leo Curley died shortly thereafter at the age of 35. Early life Curley was born on April 6, 1915. He was the fifth child born to the Curleys and named after Pope Leo the Great.
