Cumbia rap is a spin-off of the original cumbia genre. It consists of a more traditional Colombian rhythm, as well as some hip hop and reggae type additions. Cumbia
Cumbia refers to a number of musical rhythms and folk dance traditions of Latin America, generally involving musical and cultural elements from American Indigenous peoples, Europeans, and Africans during colonial times. Cumbia is said to have come from funeral traditions in the Afro-Colombian community. Cumbia traditionally uses three drums ('' tambora'', ' and ''llamador''), three flutes (''gaita hembra'' and ''gaito macho'', both forms of , and '' flauta de millo'') and has a or meter. Selena Y Los Dinos
Selena y Los Dinos () was an American Tejano band formed in 1981 by Tejano singer Selena and her father Abraham Quintanilla. The band remained together until the murder of Selena in 1995, which caused the dissolution of the band in the same year. When Selena was signed with EMI Latin, EMI president José Behar told Selena that "the world wanted Selena, not Selena y Los Dinos." Selena then began releasing her solo studio albums under her name and her own logo title ''Selena'' instead of Selena y Los Dinos. La Sombra, also known as La Sombra de Tony Guerrero and previously known as La Sombra de Chicago, is a Tejano band founded by Antonio "Tony" Guerrero Jr. Originally from the Chicago suburb of Aurora, Illinois, the group gained national acclaim and success after moving to Corpus Christi, Texas and signing with Freddie Records. La Sombra released over twenty full-length studio albums featuring songs in both Spanish and English. Following numerous line-up changes, the group disbanded in 1995, briefly reuniting in 2008 for a number of live shows. The Kumbia Kings are a Mexican-American cumbia group from Corpus Christi, Texas, created by A.B. Quintanilla. Their music encompasses the styles of cumbia, hip hop, and R&B. They produce songs in both Spanish and English. The producers for the band are Quintanilla— the brother of the late "Queen of Tejano", Selena— and Cruz Martínez.
