Cumberland Colts
The Cumberland Colts were a minor league baseball team based in Cumberland, Maryland between 1916 and 1932. The Cumberland Giants of the Pennsylvania-Ohio-Maryland League in 1906 and the 1907 Cumberland Rooters of the Western Pennsylvania League preceded the Colts. The Colts played as members of the 1916 Potomac League, the Blue Ridge League from 1917 to 1918 and Middle Atlantic League from 1925 to 1932. The Colts were a minor league affiliate of the New York Yankees in 1931 and 1932. With the Colts winning league championships in 1918, 1927 and 1931, Cumberland played home games at South End Park and then Community Park. Chambersburg Maroons
The Chambersburg Maroons were a baseball team located in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. They called historic Henninger Field their home, and had done so since the club's creation in 1895. They played their last season in 2010, ending 116 years of existence. History Early Years Baseball has been in Chambersburg since the late nineteenth century. On May 16, 1883, a portable dynamo and six 2,000-watt candle lamps were placed on a railcar by the Cumberland Valley Railroad at a cost of $2,753.75. The apparatus was given its first trial run at a night baseball game between George Pensinger's railroad team and Henninger's club from Chambersburg. Many consider this to be the first night baseball game ever played. A Chambersburg team was part of the Keystone Association which played for one season in 1884. The Charleston Senators were an American minor league baseball team based in Charleston, West Virginia. They were the first professional baseball team to play in Charleston, beginning play in 1910. The team was inactive during a few periods, playing their last game in 1960. The Clarksburg Generals were an American minor league baseball team based in Clarksburg, West Virginia. They played from 1907 to 1910, in 1914 and from 1925 to 1932 under different names. They played in the Western Pennsylvania League in 1907, the Pennsylvania–West Virginia League in 1909 and the West Virginia League in 1910. In 1908, they were known as the Clarksburg Drummers. The Wheeling Stogies was a minor league baseball team based in Wheeling, West Virginia, that played under several different names at various times between 1877 and 1934. They played mostly in the Central League and the Middle Atlantic League, as well as in several various other area-based leagues. History The Stogies can be traced back to 1877 and the city's first professional team known as Wheeling Standard, which featured Jack Glasscock and Chappy Lane. Then in 1887 the city once again fielded a new team known simply in the record books as Wheeling. However, the following season, Wheeling came to be called the "Nail City" for its nail industry, creating the Wheeling Nailers, a team name which even today is used for the city's professional ice hockey team. The Fairmont Black Diamonds were an American minor league baseball team based in Fairmont, West Virginia. They played under several names between 1907 and 1931. The Scottdale Scotties were a minor league baseball team located in Scottdale, Pennsylvania from 1925 until 1931. The club was a member of the class C Middle Atlantic League. The team was primarily named the Scotties; however, the club was renamed the Scottdale Cardinals in 1931. The team was affiliated with the St. Louis Cardinals from 1929 until 1931.
