Cullivel State Forest
Cullivel State Forest is a native forest, located in the South Western Slopes region of New South Wales, in eastern Australia. The state forest is located approximately north-east of Urana. The now-closed section of the Oaklands railway line passes through the northern section of the state forest. Environment Cullivel State Forest is dominated by white cypress pine. Other plant species present within the forest include Grey box and Bulloak. At least three species listed under the ''Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016'' have been recorded within the state forest, including Grey-crowned babbler. The Forestry Corporation of NSW is a state-owned corporation that has been appointed to manage environmental conservation, community access, tourism, fire, land management and renewable timber production across of public land on behalf of the NSW Government. Urana is a small town in the Riverina region of New South Wales, Australia. The town is in the Federation Council local government area. Urana is located between Lockhart and Jerilderie, about southwest of the state capital, Sydney. To the west lies Lake Urana and the Lake Urana Nature Reserve. To the east lies a smaller lake, Lake Uranagong. Urana was the major town and headquarters of the former Urana Shire. The shire included the localities of Boree Creek, Morundah, Oaklands and Rand. Oaklands Railway Line, New South Wales
The Oaklands railway line is a partly-closed railway line in New South Wales, Australia. It is a branch of the Main South line at The Rock, and heads in a south-westerly direction through the towns of Boree Creek and Urana, terminating at Oaklands. The line opened to Lockhart in 1901, and to Oaklands in 1912. Passenger services were withdrawn in 1974, and the line is now closed beyond Boree Creek. Grain haulage provides the main traffic on the line. From Oaklands, a line heads south to the Victorian border on the Murray River, and then to Benalla, Victoria. That line was formerly Victorian broad gauge, but was converted to standard gauge in 2009. The ''Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016'' (''BC Act'') is a state-based act of parliament in New South Wales (NSW). Its long title is ''An Act relating to the conservation of biodiversity; and to repeal the Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995, the Nature Conservation Trust Act 2001 and the animal and plant provisions of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974''. It supersedes the ''Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995'', and commenced on 25 August 2017.
