Lucero (actress)
Lucero Hogaza León (; born 29 August 1969) is a Mexican singer and entertainer. She is a multi-platinum singer in Mexico and has sung in Spanish, English, and Portuguese. Lucero has sold more than 30 million records worldwide. She is often referred to as ("The Americas' sweetheart"). As a child she starred in the popular Mexican children shows '' Alegrias de Mediodia'' and '' Chispita''. She went on to release a series of successful albums. Some of her songs peaked on top of most of the Latin charts including the ''Billboard'' charts in the USA. ''Cuéntame'' (''Eng: Tell me'') is the sixth and last studio album released by Mexican performer Lucerito. It was released in 1989. Most of the songs included on the album were used in the film ''Deliciosa Sinvergüenza'' (1990); the album also includes a cover of The Pet Shop Boys' "It's a Sin" titled "Hojas Secas". ''Cuéntame'' is one of the biggest sellers on the singer's career, and was the album that inicitated the transition from teenager, being the last album using the diminutive Lucerito. ''Cuéntame'' was executive produced by Spanish producer Miguel Blasco and produced by José Ramón Florez, with Florez writing most of the tracks included. ''Con Mi Sentimiento'' (English: ''With my love''), released in 1990, is the seventh album from Mexican pop music singer and actress Lucero, and her first album in Mariachi music with the participation of Mariachi Vargas of Tecalitlan. Since Lucero was working in the Mexican soap opera "Cuando llega el amor" this album didn't have any promotion, nevertheless the album went gold and platinum in Mexico, with sales of 250,000 copies, and it reached #9 in the Top Regional Mexican Albums in ''Billboard''. Also represents the first time Lucero had a hit in the Hot Latin Tracks in United States as Lucero, with "Te Tuve y Te Perdi" peaking at #22. A telenovela is a type of a television serial drama or soap opera produced primarily in Latin America. The word combines ''tele'' (for "television") and ''novela'' (meaning "novel"). Similar drama genres around the world include '' teleserye'' (Philippines), '' téléroman'' (Canada, specifically Quebec), and ''sinetron'' (Indonesia). Commonly described using the American colloquialism Spanish soap opera, many telenovelas share some stylistic and thematic similarities to the soap opera familiar to the English-speaking world. The significant difference is their series run length; telenovelas tell one self-contained story, typically within the span of a year or less whereas soap operas tend to have intertwined storylines told during indefinite, continuing runs.
