''Cuando hay pasión'' (English title: ''When there is passion'') is a Venezuela]n telenovela written by Benilde Ávila and produced by Venevisión in 1999. The series is based on the radionovela ''Valentina'' by Inés Rodena. This telenovela lasted 145 episodes and was distributed internationally by Venevisión International. Fedra López and Jorge Reyes starred as the main protagonists. Synopsis Two love stories that unfold against the backdrop of a bitter feud between two prominent families: The Nunezes and the Malaves. Co-owners of a successful record company, they have been partners for many years. After the death of Don Carlos Nunez and his wife in an automobile accident, their eldest son, Reinaldo, took over the family's business affairs. Since then, he has spoiled his three siblings-Luis Guillermo, Gabriela and Jean Paul-as well as his two daughters, Vicky and Jennifer, by giving them all the luxuries money can buy. Telenovela
A telenovela is a type of a television serial drama or soap opera produced primarily in Latin America. The word combines ''tele'' (for "television") and ''novela'' (meaning "novel"). Similar drama genres around the world include '' teleserye'' (Philippines), '' téléroman'' (Canada, specifically Quebec), and ''sinetron'' (Indonesia). Commonly described using the American colloquialism Spanish soap opera, many telenovelas share some stylistic and thematic similarities to the soap opera familiar to the English-speaking world. The significant difference is their series run length; telenovelas tell one self-contained story, typically within the span of a year or less whereas soap operas tend to have intertwined storylines told during indefinite, continuing runs. This makes them shorter than most other television series, but still much longer than a miniseries. Venevisión () is a Venezuelan free-to-air television channel and one of Venezuela's largest television networks, owned by the Cisneros Media division of Grupo Cisneros. History The company's roots date back to June 1, 1953, with the establishment of Televisora Mirandina Independiente S.A, (Televisa), which operated the channel 4 in Caracas and channel 5 in Maracaibo. When TELEVISA went bankrupt in 1960, Diego Cisneros purchased the remaining assets of the company. On February 27, 1961, Venevisión (a portmanteau based on ''Velvet de Venezuela - Televisión'') was officially inaugurated with a special inaugural on March 1, 1961, show in which thousands of people attended, and took place in the station's parking lot.
