Crywank
Crywank is a British anti-folk band based out of Manchester, England. The band is a duo consisting of vocalist/guitarist and founder Jay Clayton and drummer Dan Watson, who joined in 2012. Allmusic describes their body of work as containing "sadness, paranoia, misery, and dry humor", comparing them to AJJ or 'a sarcastic Bright Eyes'. The group have independently released eight full length albums. They have previously toured the UK, Ireland, Mainland Europe, Russia, South East Asia, South America, Australia, New Zealand, US, Mexico and Canada. History After early demos were distributed online, Crywank's debut album ''James Is Going to Die Soon'' was released in September 2010. Second album ''Narcissist on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown'' followed in April 2012. Anti-folk (sometimes referred to as unfolk) is a music genre that emerged in the 1980s in response to the remnants of the 1960s folk music scene. Anti-folk music was made to mock the perceived seriousness of the time's mainstream music scene, and artists have the intention to protest with their mocking and clever lyrics. History In the United States Anti-folk was introduced by artists who were unable to obtain gigs at established folk venues in Greenwich Village such as Folk City and The Speakeasy. Lovejoy (band)
Lovejoy are an indie rock band formed in Brighton, England in 2021. The band consists of William Gold (also known by the stage name Wilbur Soot) as lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, Joe Goldsmith as lead guitarist, Mark Boardman as drummer, and Ash Kabosu as bassist, with all four also sharing in songwriting. Their debut EP, '' Are You Alright?'', was released on 8 May 2021. Their second EP, '' Pebble Brain'', came out on 14 October 2021. Mutant League Records is an American independent record label based in Chicago. Established in 2012, Mutant League has released albums for seminal pop-punk groups such as Seaway, Belmont, and As It Is among others. As of 2022, the label has sold over 250,000 albums worldwide. The Tuts
The Tuts were an English DIY pop punk, "three-tone" band from Hayes, Greater London. They received extensive coverage from alternative music radio, most notably Amazing Radio, and from music websites such as Louder Than War who published multiple articles on the group, calling them "one of the UK's most exciting bands". The band, particularly frontwoman Nadia Javed, were the subject of a feature in the ITV series ''Young, British and Muslim'' in April 2018. Initially influenced by contemporary indie and alternative rock, their back-to-basics sound and feminist politics led to comparisons with older genres such as punk, C86 and riot grrrl. Brighton
