Aporocera
''Aporocera'' is a genus of leaf beetles commonly called case bearing leaf beetles in the subfamily Cryptocephalinae The Cryptocephalinae are a subfamily of the leaf beetles (Chrysomelidae), and belong to the group of case-bearing leaf beetles called the Camptosomata. The tribes Fulcidacini and Clytrini The Clytrini are a tribe within the leaf beetle sub .... Aporocera are well represented in all states of Australia and consist of 148 species in two subspecies. The adults are roughly cylindrical in shape and have long antennae, more-so for males. They are common on Eucalyptus including Eucalyptus globulus but are usually not a problem. Eggs are about 1mm and are laid inside faecal pellets. When the larvae hatch, they work a hole in one end and remain in the faecal case as they feed on leaf litter on the forest floor. When they pupate, they seal their case again. Gallery File:Aporocera consors-1 cryptocephalinae.jpg, ''Aporocera consors'' File:Aporocera sp.LEUBA.j ...

Cadmus (beetle)
''Cadmus'' is a genus of leaf beetles which are commonly called case bearing leaf beetles in the subfamily Chrysomelinae. They are widespread throughout Australia and include 5 subgenera and 68 species. Case bearing leaf beetles produce eggs encased in faecal material and larvae when hatched feed on leaf litter while housed in this protective home. The adults feed on Eucalyptus including Eucalyptus globulus but rarely become a major problem for forestry. Louis Alexandre Auguste Chevrolat
Louis Alexandre Auguste Chevrolat was a French entomologist, born 29 March 1799 in Paris and died 16 December 1884 in Paris. In government service in Paris, this amateur entomologist studied mainly beetles and birds. He published nearly 250 notes and papers and was the author of more than 2,000 species. He was one of the founders of the Société entomologique de France in 1832. On his death, his collection was dispersed. Part of his collection is now in the Natural History Museum in London along with some manuscripts. Works (Selection) * 1833a. Description de Buprestis analis. ''Magasin de Zoologie'' 1833. Leonard Gyllenhaal
Leonard Gyllenhaal (3 December 1752 – 13 May 1840) was a Swedish military officer and entomologist. Born on the Ribbingsberg manor in Västergötland in west Sweden, Leonard Gyllenhaal was son of an army officer and belonged to a family of the lower nobility. He went to school ( Skara trivialskola) in the cathedral town of Skara together with, among others, the future poet Johan Henrik Kellgren, and later renowned naturalists Anders Dahl and the brothers Adam and Johan Afzelius, with whom he went on natural excursions. Like some of his friends, he went to Uppsala to study under Linnaeus in 1769. He never matriculated and remained in Uppsala only one semester, before switching to a military career in accordance with the wishes and traditions of the family, enrolling in the '' Adelsfanan'' ( "Banner of Nobles") cavalry regiment, and a few years later transferring to the drabantkåren (Garde du Corps). Gyllenhaal, however, remained in contact with Linnaeus through an exte ...

Camptosomata
Camptosomata are the case-bearing leaf beetles or camptosomates, named for their larval habit of carrying a case of waste material. This group consists of two subfamilies of Chrysomelidae (leaf beetles): Lamprosomatinae and Cryptocephalinae (which include the former Chlamisinae and Clytrinae The Clytrini are a tribe within the leaf beetle subfamily Cryptocephalinae, though historically they were often treated as a distinct subfamily, Clytrinae. As the other Cryptocephalinae, they belong to the group of case-bearing leaf beetles known ...). Each case begins as a wrapping that the mother creates by laying plates of fecal material around each egg. She begins at one end of the egg and turns it with the addition of each plate. She then closes it by creating a "roof" at the other end. When the larva hatches from the egg, it opens the roof of the egg case. it then extends it head and legs from this opening, flips the case over its back and crawls away. Larval camptosomates add ...
