Crossmolina Deel Rovers
Crossmolina Deel Rovers is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Crossmolina, County Mayo, Ireland. The club fields Gaelic football teams in competitions organized by the Mayo GAA county board. History Crossmolina Dr Crokes GAA was affiliated with the Mayo GAA county board in 1887. In 1906, the name was changed to Deel Rovers. The name of the ground is called St Tiernan's Park. Tommy Jordan led the club to the 2000–01 All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. Michael Moore and Padraic Syron were selectors and Jarlath Cunningham trained the team. Crossmolina
Crossmolina is a town in the Barony of Tyrawley in County Mayo, Ireland, as well as the name of the parish in which Crossmolina is situated. The town sits on the River Deel near the northern shore of Lough Conn. Crossmolina is about west of Ballina on the N59 Road. Surrounding the town, there are a number of agriculturally important townlands, including Enaghbeg, Rathmore, and Tooreen. Etymology The name Crossmolina is from the ga, Crois Uí Mhaoilíona, meaning "Cross of Mullany", or "Maoilíona's cross". Mayo Intermediate Football Championship
The Mayo Intermediate Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition contested by mid-tier (17-32) Mayo GAA clubs. Ballyhaunis are the title holders (2022) defeating Kilmeena in the Final. Honours The winning club competes in the Connacht Intermediate Club Football Championship. They often do well there, with the likes of Westport (2016), Hollymount Carraroe (2015), Kiltane (2013) and Charlestown Sarsfields (2012) among the clubs from Mayo to win at least one Connacht Championship after winning the Mayo Intermediate Football Championship. The winning club can, in turn, go on to play in the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Football Championship. Stephen Rochford
Stephen Rochford (born 10 October 1978) is an Irish Gaelic football coach and former manager and player. He was manager of the senior Mayo county team from 2015 to 2018. Raised in Crossmolina, County Mayo, Rochford was educated at Crossmolina Boys' National School and Gortnor Abbey. He was introduced to football by primary school teacher John Cosgrove and Crossmolina coach Tom McNulty. He won Connacht School titles for Gortnor Abbey, playing under Gerry Leonard. He simultaneously came to prominence at juvenile and underage levels with the Crossmolina team, winning a county under-21 championship medal in 1997. By this stage Rochford had joined the Crossmolina senior team and won an All-Ireland medal in 2001. He also won three Connacht medals and six County Senior Championship medals. James Nallen
James Nallen (born 1973 in Castlebar) is a former Gaelic footballer who played for the Mayo county team. He is the team's record appearance holder with 132. He played in five All-Ireland finals, including an All-Ireland final replay against Meath in 1996, and won two All Stars, in 1996 and 2004. He won a National Football League medal in 2001. However, he never won an All-Ireland medal. He retired from inter-county football in 2010. Michael Moyles
Michael Moyles is a former Gaelic footballer who played for Crossmolina and the Mayo county team. He also managed the Mayo ladies' football team from 2021 to 2023 where they won their first silverware since 2016. Background Moyles is from the St Mary's Park area of Crossmolina, County Mayo, Ireland where he was educated at Crossmolina St Tiernan's Boys' National School and Gortnor Abbey Secondary School. John Maughan (born 1962) is an Irish Gaelic football manager and former player who most recently managed the Offaly football team. He is a former manager of the Mayo, Clare, Roscommon and Fermanagh senior football teams. He is only the third man to lead five different counties and the first to complete a "slam", with at least one of these counties coming from each of Ireland's four provinces. Seán Lowry
Seán Lowry (born 24 February 1952) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer. His league and championship career at senior level with the Offaly and Mayo county teams spanned fifteen seasons from 1971 to 1985. Lowry made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he was selected for the Offaly minor team. He spent two championship seasons with the minor team, however, he enjoyed little success during that time. Lowry subsequently joined the Offaly under-21 team, winning All-Ireland medals in 1971 and 1973. By this stage he had also joined the Offaly senior team, after being added to the extended panel during the 1971 championship. Michael Loftus (born 9 August 1929) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer, referee and Gaelic games administrator. His league and championship career at senior level with the Mayo county team lasted four seasons from 1949 until 1953. Early life He first played competitive Gaelic football with St Muredach's College in Ballina.
