Crossfire (British TV Programme)
''Crossfire'' is a Scottish regional television current affairs programme produced and broadcast by Grampian Television between 1984 and 2004. The programme covered political, business and social issues concerning the northern Scotland region and was the successor to the long-running ''Points North'' series, broadcast between 1961 and 1984. ''Crossfire'' was also broadcast in the Scottish Television region during the late 1990s and early 2000s. The programme was axed in 2004 to make way for a new political programme entitled ''Politics Now'', co-produced by Scottish and Grampian (now ''STV Central'' and ''STV North'' respectively). Anne MacKenzie (journalist)
Anne Erica Isobel Mackenzie is a former BBC political and current affairs presenter. Mackenzie worked as a newscaster between 1981 and 1997. She started her career with Grampian TV, in Aberdeen, before joining BBC Scotland in 1995. She became a political and current affairs presenter in 1998, anchoring several BBC network programmes. Mackenzie was also part of the ''Newsnight Scotland'' team, with BBC Scotland, from its launch in October 1999 to July 2007. She could also be heard fronting factual programmes for BBC Radio 4 in London. Early years Mackenzie was born in Stornoway and grew up on the peninsula of Point, Outer Hebrides. Her mother Katie Ann (née Maclean; 1924–1979), was a midwife, and her father Donald (1924-1996) was a postmaster at his parents' post office in Portnaguran. Joan Ingram (broadcaster)
Joan Ingram (born March 1959), is a Scottish broadcaster, journalist and media company director. Education Ingram attended Auchmuty High School in Glenrothes before studying at the University of Dundee, obtaining an MA Honours degree in politics and jurisprudence in 1981. She later studied at the University of Aberdeen where she obtained an MBA in 1996. In 2012 she completed an executive education programme at the Harvard Business School in Boston, MA. Career Ingram began her broadcasting career in 1982 at Radio Tay. Within a year, she joined Grampian Television (now ''STV North'') as a reporter and presenter for the nightly news programme ''North Tonight'' and various documentaries. Whilst at Grampian, Ingram also presented political and current affairs programming including ''Crossfire'' and ''Scottish Question Time''. Michael Crow is a former Scottish political journalist who worked as Director of Strategy and Communications at the Scottish Conservative Party from 2009 until 2010. Following the 2010 UK General Election in which the Scottish Conservatives won only one seat, Crow's post was terminated due to 'financial constraints'. ''STV News'' is a Scottish news service produced by STV. The news department produces two regional services covering STV's Channel 3 franchise areas of Northern and Central Scotland. STV's news programmes are produced from studios in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen with reporters also based at newsrooms in Dundee and Inverness and political correspondents based at Holyrood and Westminster. Freelance correspondents and camera crews are based on the Orkney and Shetland Isles, Wick and Fort William with a permanent Western Isles correspondent based in Stornoway. Grampian Television
Grampian Television was the original name of the Channel 3 service for the north of Scotland founded in 1961 and now named STV. The northern region's coverage area includes the Northern Isles, Western Isles, Highlands (except Fort William and Lochaber) Grampian, Tayside (except the Kinross area), and parts of north Fife. Grampian went on the air on 30 September 1961. The company was bought out in 1997 by STV Group (the parent company of STV, the Channel 3 broadcaster in Central Scotland). The name ''Grampian Television'' was retired in 2006 and the channel is now known as ''STV'' on-air. ''Politics Now'' is a Scottish political programme produced and broadcast by STV (TV channel), STV in northern and central Scotland, between 2004 and 2011. The programme, broadcast for 40 weeks of the year, on a Thursday evenings after the late ''STV News'' bulletin, covered all of the big Political developments in Westminster, Brussels and Holyrood in detail. STV Player is a video on demand service owned by STV Group and available free-of-charge across the UK, online, on mobile and on all major TV platforms, including Sky Glass, Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV, Android TV, Freeview Play and Virgin Media. Officially launched in July 2009 following a soft launch the previous year, STV Player was initially established as an online catch-up service for viewers of the STV channel in Scotland.
