Crookes (ward)
Crookes & Crosspool ward—which includes the districts of Crookes, Steelbank, Crosspool, and Sandygate —is one of the 28 electoral wards in City of Sheffield, England. It is located in the western part of the city and covers an area of 3.9 km2. The population of this ward in 2011 was 17,700 people in 7,266 households. The current councillors for Crookes and Crosspool Ward are Minesh Parekh (Labour and Co-operative), Ruth Milsom (Labour), and Tim Huggan (Liberal Democrats). In the 2004 local elections Sylvia Anginotti, John Hesketh, and Brian Holmes, all Liberal Democrats, were returned as councillors for the newly drawn ward. John Hesketh was defeated by Labour's Geoff Smith in 2011. In the 2016 local elections that took place under redrawn boundaries, Labour's Anne Murphy and Craig Gamble-Pugh were returned along with the Liberal Democrats’ Adam Hanrahan. Paul Blomfield
Paul Christopher Blomfield (born 25 August 1953) is a British politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sheffield Central since 2010. A member of the Labour Party, he was a Shadow Minister for Exiting the European Union from 2016 to 2020 and Shadow Minister for Brexit and European Union Negotiations from 2020 to 2021. Twice President of the Students' Union at St John's College, York, Blomfield was also a member of the National Executive Committees of both the National Union of Students and the Anti-Apartheid Movement, the latter from 1979 to 1994. From 1997 to 2008, he was chairman of Sheffield City Trust; he was also the general manager of the University of Sheffield Students' Union. Tapton School
Tapton School is a secondary school with academy status located in Crosspool, in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. It is sited next to another secondary, King Edward VII School in Sheffield, and near to Lydgate Junior School in Crosspool, Lydgate Infant School in Sheffield and Notre Dame Catholic High School in Sheffield. Tapton School has approximately 1,650 pupils, aged between 11 and 18 years old. Tapton officially opened in 1960, but in 2000 the school was rebuilt under the Private Finance Initiative. Students and faculties officially moved to the new building in September 2001. History Tapton Secondary School opened in 1960 with 660 pupils.
