Cristóbal Montoro
Cristóbal Ricardo Montoro Romero (born 28 July 1950 in Cambil) is a Spanish politician. Hs is a member of the Spanish People's Party. He served as Minister of Finance and Public Administrations of Spain from 22 December 2011 until 1 June 2018, when a vote of no-confidence against Mariano Rajoy ousted his government. His ministry was re-structured in 2016 and the responsibilities of Public Administration were given to the vice president. The office was renamed Minister of Finance and Civil Service. He was a Member of the European Parliament for the People's Party, part of the European People's Party, and sat on the European Parliament's Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs. He has represented Madrid in the Spanish Congress since 1993. The Most Excellent (Spanish language, Spanish: ''Excelentísimo Señor'' (male) or ''Excelentísima Señora'' (female), literally "Most Excellent Sir/Madam") is an honorific prefix that is traditionally applied to certain people in Spain and certain Spanish-speaking countries. Following Spanish tradition, it is an ''ex officio'' style (the holder has it as long as they remain in office, in the most important positions of state) and is used in written documents and very formal occasions. Madrid (Congress Of Deputies Constituency)
Madrid is one of the 52 constituencies ( es, circunscripciones) represented in the Congress of Deputies, the lower chamber of the Spanish parliament, the Cortes Generales. The constituency currently elects 36 deputies. Its boundaries correspond to those of the Spanish province of Madrid. The electoral system uses the D'Hondt method and a closed-list proportional representation, with a minimum threshold of three percent. The European People's Party (EPP) is a European political party with Christian-democratic, conservative, and liberal-conservative member parties. A transnational organisation, it is composed of other political parties. Founded by primarily Christian-democratic parties in 1976, it has since broadened its membership to include liberal-conservative parties and parties with other centre-right political perspectives. A motion of no confidence in the Spanish government of Mariano Rajoy was debated and voted in the Congress of Deputies between 31 May and 1 June 2018. It was brought by Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) leader Pedro Sánchez after the governing People's Party (PP) was found to have profited from the illegal kickbacks-for-contracts scheme of the Gürtel case in a court ruling made public the previous day.
