Cristina Braga
Cristina Braga is a Brazilian harpist. Working with various styles of both classical and popular music, she has released fourteen recorded works, two of them also released in the United States, one released in Japan, and one in Korea. She also performs regularly as soloist with many Symphony Orchestras, has won several prizes and is currently principal harpist at the Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro Symphony Orchestra, as well as teacher at the School of Music at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. From 1990 until 1993 she was a member of the Board of Directors of the World Harp Congress, and made several tours of Europe along with concerts in Israel and USA. She studied with Acácia Brazil at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, where she graduated with a Gold Medal Award. She also studied with Susann McDonald at Indiana University Bloomington. Brazilians
Brazilians ( pt, Brasileiros, ) are the citizens of Brazil. A Brazilian can also be a person born abroad to a Brazilian parent or legal guardian as well as a person who acquired Brazilian citizenship. Samba
Samba (), also known as samba urbano carioca (''urban Carioca samba'') or simply samba carioca (''Carioca samba''), is a Brazilian music genre that originated in the Afro-Brazilian communities of Rio de Janeiro in the early 20th century. Having its roots in Brazilian folk traditions, especially those linked to the primitive rural samba of the colonial and imperial periods, it is considered one of the most important cultural phenomena in Brazil and one of the country's symbols. Present in the Portuguese language at least since the 19th century, the word "samba" was originally used to designate a "popular dance". Over time, its meaning has been extended to a "batuque-like circle dance", a dance style, and also to a "music genre". B-flat (jazz Club)
b-flat (full name: b-flat Acoustic Music & Jazzclub) is a jazz club in Berlin, Germany. Overview The b-flat was launched in 1995 by musician brothers Jannis Zotos and Thanassis Zotos and the actor André Hennecke. From 1997 on Joerg Zieprig has been responsible for booking. The club is located near Hackescher Markt at Dircksenstr. 40, 10178 Berlin. It is open every night and has become an inherent part of the Berlin jazz scene. Local as well as internationally renowned musicians play jazz music of all different styles. Neuburg an der Donau (Central Bavarian: ''Neiburg an da Donau'') is a town which is the capital of the Neuburg-Schrobenhausen district in the state of Bavaria in Germany. Jazzclub Unterfahrt
Jazzclub Unterfahrt is a jazz club at Einsteinstraße 42 in Munich, Germany, described by Lonely Planet as "perhaps the best-known place in town, with live music". The club has over 1,200 members, though only has a capacity of about 180 people. The venue is in the old beer cellars of a former restaurant. History The club was established in 1978, when five people converted an old restaurant for railway workers into a jazz club. The name "Unterfahrt" or subway denotes the passage under the railway where it was originally situated. The new club was focused on free jazz, and by the 1980s it was open five days a week. In 1994 it began featuring seven concerts a week. In 2012 the club won the Musikpreis der Landeshauptstadt München. Olivia Hime (born June 25, 1943) is a Brazilian singer and lyricist. She is also the co-owner and musical manager of the record label Biscoito Fino. In 2005, the song ''Cancao Transparente'', composed by Hime and her husband, pianist and composer Francis Hime, was nominated for a Latin Grammy for Best Brazilian Song. Eugene Friesen
Eugene Friesen (born 1952) is an American cellist and composer. Early life Friesen was born in 1952 to Russian Mennonite parents. He is a graduate of the Yale School of Music. Career Friesen has been a member of the Paul Winter Consort since 1978, and performs with Howard Levy and Glen Velez as Trio Globo. He received a Grammy Award as a member of the Paul Winter Consort for the 1994 album ''Spanish Angel'' and again in 2006 for the Consort's ''Silver Solstice'' in 2007 for ''Crestone'', and in 2011 for ''Miho: Journey to the Mountain''. Friesen has won four Grammy Awards to date. In 2012, Friesen's book, ''Improvisation for Classical Musicians'' was published by Berklee Press/Hal Leonard. Antônio Moreira da Silva (1 April 1902, in Rio de Janeiro – 6 June 2000, in Rio de Janeiro) was a very reputed Brazilian singer and songwriter of Samba, also known by his nickname ''Kid Morengueira''. He was the older son of Bernardino de Sousa Paranhos, trombone player for the Rio de Janeiro Military Police (PMERJ), and Miss Pauladina de Assis Moreira. Born in Rio de Janeiro, in the ''Morro do Salgueiro'' district, he only began to study at nine years-old, but soon left school in favor of music (after the death of his father). During his career, at the same time when he seriously started performing, songwriting and singing, he worked as factory employee, cab driver and ambulance driver.
