Cristiano Bortone
Cristiano Bortone (born 2 July 1968) is an Italian director, screenwriter and producer. He is Managing Director of the Sino-European Association Bridging the Dragon. Life and career Born in Rome, Bortone graduated in Film and Television Studies in 1990 at the New York University. Starting from the same year he was active as director of commercials, documentaries and short films. In 1994 he made his feature film debut with the romance-drama ''Oasi'', which was screened at the 51st Venice International Film Festival. In 2000, he directed his second feature, '' Sono Positivo'' (''I am positive''), a black comedy on the theme of HIV with a wild score including songs from the tradition of Neapolitan trash music and 70's genre films. The movie is chosen as official film of del World Gay Pride that was held in Rome. Brothers Jean-Pierre Dardenne (; born 21 April 1951) and Luc Dardenne (born 10 March 1954), collectively referred to as the Dardenne brothers, are a Belgian filmmaking duo. Rocco Granata
Rocco Granata (born 16 August 1938) is an Italian-Belgian singer, songwriter, and accordionist. Granata was born in Figline Vegliaturo, Calabria, southern Italy; but his parents immigrated to Belgium when he was aged ten. Rocco's father was a coal miner, but Granata pursued music instead. He played accordion and toured Belgium with his band, 'The International Quintet'. He then released the songs "Manuela" / " Marina" as a single in 1959; the B-side became an international hit, reaching #1 in Belgium and in Germany as well as charting across Europe and in the United States. It sold over one million copies in Germany alone, and was awarded a gold disc. It has been covered many times by artists such as Willy Alberti, Marino Marini, Ilham al-Madfai, Dalida and Louis Armstrong. ''Marina'' is a biographical film released in 2013 and directed by Stijn Coninx. The film is based upon the life of the Italian singer Rocco Granata who moved to Belgium when he was a young boy. It features Matteo Simoni as Rocco Granata and Evelien Bosmans as Helena. Most part of the film is in Italian as Rocco's parents did not speak the Dutch language. Other parts are in Dutch and some dialogues in French and English. The film was first shown at the Montreal World Film Festival on 25 August 2013. It was released in Belgium in November.
