Crimson Glory (album)
''Crimson Glory'' is the debut studio album by the American heavy metal band Crimson Glory, originally released in 1986 on Par Records in the US. It was later licensed by and re-issued on Roadrunner Records in Europe. In 2006, Greek record label Black Lotus Records announced plans to release a re-mastered and expanded version with a new title, "Lost Reflections" and two previously unreleased songs, "Love Me, Kill Me" and "Dream Dancer". However, citing bankruptcy, Black Lotus ceased operations before this release came to fruition. Jon Drenning
Jon William Drenning (born April 5, 1965) is an American musician and songwriter best known for being the lead guitarist of Crimson Glory. He is also known for his work in the bands Crush and Erotic Liquid Culture. Biography Crimson Glory In 1979, guitarist Ben Jackson and drummer Dana Burnell co-founded the band Pierced Arrow, which was later renamed Beowulf. This band underwent multiple lineup changes before they were later joined by Drenning, bassist Jeff Lords, and finally vocalist John Patrick McDonald, Jr., who would become professionally known as Midnight, and settled on the name Crimson Glory in 1983. Since their inception, Crimson Glory have released four studio albums with Drenning and Lords being the only members to appear on each one; Drenning would also serve as the sole guitarist on their third album '' Strange and Beautiful''. Crimson Glory Albums
Crimson is a rich, deep red color, inclining to purple. It originally meant the color of the kermes dye produced from a scale insect, ''Kermes vermilio'', but the name is now sometimes also used as a generic term for slightly bluish-red colors that are between red and rose. It is the national color of Nepal. History Crimson (NR4) is produced using the dried bodies of a scale insect, ''Kermes'', which were gathered commercially in Mediterranean countries, where they live on the kermes oak, and sold throughout Europe. The Emulator is a series of digital sampling synthesizers using floppy disk storage, manufactured by E-mu Systems from 1981 until 2002. Though not the first commercial sampler, the Emulator was among the first to find wide use among ordinary musicians, due to its relatively low price and fairly contained size, which allowed for its use in live performances. Dana Burnell is an American musician best known for being the original drummer of the bands Crimson Glory and Parish. Biography Burnell co-founded the group that would eventually become known as Crimson Glory along with four other musicians, including rhythm guitarist Ben Jackson in Sarasota, Florida in 1979 under the name Pierced Arrow (later changed to 'Beowulf'). Midnight (born John Patrick Jr. McDonald, April 29, 1962 – July 8, 2009) was an American musician best known for being the vocalist of Crimson Glory. The band became known for Midnight's "ear-shattering screams", which drew comparisons to Geoff Tate, and "painfully strident delivery." Career Midnight joined Crimson Glory in the early 1980s. In 1986, their debut album was issued by Roadrunner Records. It took the newcomers only a couple of years to surpass their debut with their sophomore effort, 1988's '' Transcendence'', a joint release on MCA/Roadrunner. In 1991 they signed to Atlantic Records and released '' Strange & Beautiful'', an album which showed a commercial switch in the band's sound.
