Crescent Rovers Football Club was a football club based in Wallington, Greater London, England. The club played at Wallington Sports & Social Club. History The club was formed in 1947 by a group of ex-servicemen in the Whitehorse Manor area of Croydon. The club originally started playing friendlies and were then elected to join the Thornton Heath & District League. The club then made progress through the leagues, eventually joining the Surrey County Premier League for the 1998–99 season. They stayed in the Surrey County Premier league until the end of the 2002–03 season, when the Combined Counties League created a new Division One formed by clubs from the Surrey Premier League. During their time in Division one the club went on to win the Division one cup beating Bookham in the Final 2–1. Wallington is a town in the London Borough of Sutton, South London, England, south south-west of Charing Cross. Before the Municipal Borough of Beddington and Wallington merged into the London Borough of Sutton in Greater London in 1965, it was part of the county of Surrey. Wallington is a post town in the SM postcode area. History The name "Wallington" derives from the Old English, Anglo Saxon "Waletone", meaning "village of the Britons". The Surrey Premier County Football League is a regional English football league for teams in south-west London, Surrey and neighbouring areas. It was founded in 2008. The league is at the 11th level of the English football league system and was incorporated into the National League System as a Step 7 league by the Football Association in June 2012. The league was formed to bridge the gap between local intermediate leagues and the lower division of the Combined Counties League. The league is fed by the Surrey County Intermediate League (Western) and the Surrey South Eastern Combination.
