Taraxacum Officinale
''Taraxacum officinale'', the dandelion or common dandelion, is a flowering herbaceous perennial plant of the dandelion genus in the family Asteraceae (syn. Compositae). The common dandelion is well known for its yellow flower heads that turn into round balls of many silver-tufted fruits that disperse in the wind. These balls are usually called "clocks" in both British and American English. The name "blowball" is also used. The common dandelion grows in temperate regions of the world in areas with moist soils. It is most often considered a weed, especially in lawns and along roadsides, but the leaves, flowers, and roots are sometimes used in herbal medicine and as food. Description ''Taraxacum officinale'' grows from (generally unbranched) taproots and produces several hollow, leafless flower stems that are typically tall, but sometimes up to tall. The stems can be tinted purplish, they are upright or lax, and produce flower heads that are held as tall or taller than the ... Taraxacum
''Taraxacum'' () is a large genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae, which consists of species commonly known as dandelions. The scientific and hobby study of the genus is known as taraxacology. The genus is native to Eurasia and North America, but the two most commonplace species worldwide, '' T. officinale'' (the common dandelion) and '' T. erythrospermum'' (the red-seeded dandelion), were introduced from Europe into North America, where they now propagate as wildflowers. Both species are edible in their entirety. The common name ''dandelion'' ( , from French , meaning 'lion's tooth') is also given to specific members of the genus. Like other members of the family Asteraceae, they have very small flowers collected together into a composite flower head. Each single flower in a head is called a ''floret''. In part due to their abundance, along with being a generalist species, dandelions are one of the most vital early spring nectar sources for a wide host ... Nabalus
''Nabalus'' is a genus of Asian and North American flowering plants in the tribe Cichorieae within the family Asteraceae. ''Nabalus'' is now considered the correct name for a group of plants in North America that were formerly considered to be members of '' Prenanthes'', and were included in that genus in the Flora of North America treatment. Common names for the genus include "rattlesnake root" and "white lettuce." The latter reflects its close relationship to lettuce (''Lactuca sativa'') but having flowers that are whitish or purplish-white in some species. Many (perhaps all) of the species are monocarpic perennials, in which an individual plant may live for multiple years in a vegetative condition but then will die after flowering and fruiting. Natural history White lettuce is firmly identified with common lettuce, ''Lactuca sativa''. ''Lactuca sativa'' has its inceptions in the Middle East.
