Crazy (Neu! Song)
''Crazy'' is a 2010 12" vinyl single by Germany, German band Neu!. It was released shortly after the Neu! Vinyl Box on Grönland Records as a part of Record Store Day. It was the first Neu! single to be released since ''Isi (song), Isi'' in 1975 and the only single to be taken from ''Neu! 4#Neu! '86, Neu! '86''. It was sold in a limited edition and was only available for a short time after 17 April 2010. Recording & Release The two songs were recorded during the brief studio-only Neu! reunion of 1985-6. The failure of the sessions led Klaus Dinger and Michael Rother to seal the master tapes with wax and once again disband Neu!. The unavailability of the original three Neu! albums in the 1990s caused mass bootlegging, particularly by the Luxembourg label Germanofon, which Dinger personally attempted to contact, without success. ''Krautrocksampler: One Head's Guide to the Great Kosmische Musik - 1968 Onwards'', written by the musician and writer Julian Cope, is a book describing the underground music scene in Germany from 1968 through the 1970s. The book was first published in the United Kingdom in 1995 by Head Heritage, and was later translated into German, Italian and French. Julian Cope
Julian David Cope (born 21 October 1957) is an English musician and author. He was the singer and songwriter in Liverpool post-punk band the Teardrop Explodes and has followed a solo career since 1983 in addition to working on musical side projects such as Queen Elizabeth, Brain Donor and Black Sheep. Cope is also an author on Neolithic culture, publishing ''The Modern Antiquarian'' in 1998, and a political and cultural activist with a public interest in occultism and paganism. "Isi" was a 1975 single by the German band Neu!, released in the United Kingdom to promote their album ''Neu! '75''. Like its predecessor " Super"/"Neuschnee", "Isi" failed to chart and is now a collectors' item due to its rarity. It was sold in an unmarked paper sleeve by United Artists, who marketed Neu! in the UK. Background & Recording The recording of ''Neu! '75'', the last of Neu!'s original studio albums, was begun in December 1974 at Conny Plank's studio in Cologne. Like ''Neu! 2,'' the album has a definite binary nature, with the first side recorded by the original duo of Dinger and Rother, the second by the expanded four-part Neu!- La Düsseldorf supergroup. Record Store Day is an annual event inaugurated in 2007 and held on one Saturday (typically the third) every April and every Black Friday in November to "celebrate the culture of the independently owned record store".
