Craig Lyon (born is 3 February 1982 in St Helens) is an English bantamweight boxer. Amateur career Lyon, the son of former top amateur John, won the 2001 and 2003 Amateur Boxing Association British light-flyweight title, when boxing out of the Wigan ABC. Professional career After turning pro in 2008, Lyon has had 14 fights and won the English bantamweight title by stopping Ross Burkinshaw in five rounds in Bolton in October 2010. Orthodox Stance
In combat sports such as boxing, an orthodox stance is one in which the boxer places their left foot farther in front of the right foot, thus having their weaker side closer to the opponent. Because it favors the stronger, dominant side (often the right side; see laterality), the orthodox stance is the most common stance in boxing and MMA. It is mostly used by right-handed boxers. England Boxing
England Boxing, known until 2013 as the Amateur Boxing Association of England, is the governing body of amateur boxing clubs in England. There are separate organisations for Scotland and Wales with boxing in Northern Ireland being organised on an All-Ireland basis. The Association was founded in 1880. In 1881, it organised the first ABA Championships the following year.
