Caratacus
Caratacus ( Brythonic ''*Caratācos'', Middle Welsh ''Caratawc''; Welsh ''Caradog''; Breton ''Karadeg''; Greek ''Καράτακος''; variants Latin ''Caractacus'', Greek ''Καρτάκης'') was a 1st-century AD British chieftain of the Catuvellauni tribe, who resisted the Roman conquest of Britain. Before the Roman invasion, Caratacus is associated with the expansion of his tribe's territory. His apparent success led to Roman invasion, nominally in support of his defeated enemies. He resisted the Romans for almost a decade, mixing guerrilla warfare with set-piece battles, but was unsuccessful in the latter. After his final defeat he fled to the territory of Queen Cartimandua, who captured him and handed him over to the Romans. He was sentenced to death as a military prisoner, but made a speech before his execution that persuaded the Emperor Claudius to spare him. Jody Darryl Craddock (born 25 July 1975) is an English former professional Association football, footballer and artist who played as a centre back in the Premier League for Sunderland A.F.C., Sunderland and Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C., Wolverhampton Wanderers. Craddock broke into league football at Cambridge United F.C., Cambridge United in the mid-1990s before spending six years at Sunderland A.F.C., Sunderland, with whom he won promotion to the top flight. Vincent Eugene Craddock (February 11, 1935 – October 12, 1971), known as Gene Vincent, was an American musician who pioneered the styles of rockabilly and rock and roll. His 1956 top ten hit with his backing band the Blue Caps, " Be-Bop-a-Lula", is considered a significant early example of rockabilly. His chart career was brief, especially in his home country of the US, where he notched three top 40 hits in 1956 and '57, and never charted in the top 100 again. In the UK, he was a somewhat bigger star, racking up eight top 40 hits from 1956 to 1961. Vincent was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. Thomas Craddock (born 14 October 1986) is a retired English professional footballer who played for multiple clubs including Spennymoor Town, Middlesbrough, and Portsmouth as a striker. Career Middlesbrough Born in Darlington, County Durham, Craddock came through the youth system at Middlesbrough since joining the academy from Darlington Spraire Lads when he was eleven years old, and was a member of their FA Youth Cup winning side in 2003–04. Moe Craddock
N.L. "Moe" Craddock (1934 – March 4, 2008) was an American firefighter who helped create the city of Glenn Heights, Texas (USA). Craddock grew up in Lancaster, where he graduated from high school in 1953. He worked several jobs, including for three years as a lineman for Dallas Power & Light, before joining the Dallas Fire Department in 1958. He served as a firefighter and engineer driver before becoming the driver for the chief at station No. 36 in West Dallas. It was while still with the fire department, that Craddock opened a mobile home park. This precipitated his civic interests in the area. He helped push for the incorporation of Glenn Heights in the late 1960s to prevent his business from being annexed by the neighboring city of DeSoto. The city was incorporated on September 16, 1969. Matthew Craddock
Matthew Cradock (also spelled Craddock and Craddocke; died 27 May 1641) was a London merchant, politician, and the first governor of the Massachusetts Bay Company. Founded in 1628, it was an organization of Puritan businessmen that organized and established the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Although he never visited the colony, Cradock owned property and businesses there, and he acted on its behalf in London. His business and trading empire encompassed at least 18 ships, and extended from the West Indies and North America to Europe and the Near East. He was a dominant figure in the tobacco trade. Cradock was a strong supporter of the Parliamentary cause in the years leading up to the English Civil War. He opposed royalist conservatism in the East India Company and, as a member of the Long Parliament, supported the ''Root and Branch'' attempts to radically reform the Church of England. Linda Craddock (aka Brock, Edgar, Green) (born 1952) is a Canadian visual artist living in Calgary, Alberta. Her work has been featured in exhibitions since 1973. Early life and education Craddock was born and raised in Vegreville, Alberta. She attended Alberta College of Art + Design (1970-1974) and completed her BFA (1979-1981) and MFA (1986-1988) at the University of Calgary. In 1987 the National Gallery of Canada purchased a series of six of Craddock’s photographs to add to the Canadian Photography Institute's collection. Career In 1988 Craddock moved to Vancouver Island where she resided with her family and worked at a post secondary photography school in Victoria. Gregory Lawson Craddock (born February 20, 1992) is an American professional road and track racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He is known for his achievement in finishing the 2018 Tour de France despite being seriously injured in the opening stage, and for raising funds for a hurricane-damaged velodrome as a result. Cycling career After spending the 2014 and 2015 seasons with in the UCI World Tour, he moved to rival for the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
