Cowichan Valley Regional Transit System is a public bus service in Duncan and the Cowichan Valley of British Columbia, Canada. The conventional transit of the Cowichan Valley Transit System has been in service since 1993. handyDART is a transportation service for people with a disability who are unable to use conventional transit, which is operated by Volunteer Cowichan. Services There is a weekday commuter service between Duncan, Cobble Hill, Mill Bay, Shawnigan Lake, and Victoria. Buses leave the Cowichan Valley in the morning and return in the evening. They travel via the Malahat. Victoria Regional Transit System
Victoria Regional Transit System provides public transportation in the Greater Victoria region of British Columbia, Canada. Its operations are governed by the Victoria Regional Transit Commission in association with BC Transit. There were more than 25 million riders in 2010. History Transit service began in 1890 by the National Electric Tramway and Light Company with four street cars. On May 26, 1896 a packed streetcar crashed through the Point Ellice Bridge and 55 people were killed. The Consolidated Electric Railway Company was forced into receivership by the disaster and emerged reorganized as the British Columbia Electric Railway on April 15, 1897. The use of buses started in 1923 for outlying routes. Although trolley buses were tried in 1945, the transit system was completely converted to motor buses in 1948. The Cowichan Valley Regional District is a regional district in the Canadian province of British Columbia is on the southern part of Vancouver Island, bordered by the Nanaimo and Alberni-Clayoquot Regional Districts to the north and northwest, and by the Capital Regional District to the south and east. Shawnigan Lake, British Columbia
Shawnigan Lake is the name of a village on British Columbia's Vancouver Island. The name Shawnigan is an adaptation of the Hul'qumi'num name Showe'luqun, for the lake and the village. It is part of Electoral Area B in the Cowichan Valley Regional District. As of 2016, the permanent population of Shawnigan Lake is 8,558. A popular recreation destination, its population typically doubles during the summer, as the lake and village are summer vacation spots for residents of Vancouver Island. Mill Bay is a commuter town of about 7,200 people located on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada about north of Victoria, the capital. It is part of the Cowichan Valley Regional District. Mill Bay was founded in the 1860s with lumber and milling as its primary industries, done at the mill on the bay. It was named for the sawmill built in the area in 1861 by Henry S. Shepherd soon purchased by William Sayward. It is known for its ferry to Brentwood Bay on the Saanich Peninsula and the historic Malahat Drive, which is also a source of criticism due to frequent closures from either automobile accidents or weather conditions. Cobble Hill is a small community on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. It is located approximately north of Victoria, British Columbia, Victoria on Highway 1 in the Cowichan Valley Regional District, and is known for its agricultural surroundings, and for Cobble Hill (Canada), Cobble Hill itself, which gave the village its name.
