''Cow'' is a demo EP by the British rock group Inspiral Carpets. It was released in 1987. It was reissued on 7-inch EP in 2014. The EP was included with the ''Dung 4'' vinyl reissue. The tracks were also released on the CD version of ''Dung 4''. Track list # Head for the Sun # Now You're Gone # Whiskey # Love Can Never Lose Its Own "Head for the Sun" was re-recorded and released as a B-side to the " You're So Good for Me" single in 2012 and will also appear on their 2014 album ''Inspiral Carpets''. "Whiskey" was re-recorded in 1989 during the ''Life'' sessions and appeared as a bonus track on the Japanese release of that album. Inspiral Carpets
Inspiral Carpets are an English rock band, part of the late-1980s/early-1990s Madchester movement. Formed in Oldham in 1980, the band's most successful lineup featured frontman Tom Hingley, drummer Craig Gill, guitarist Graham Lambert, bassist Martyn Walsh and keyboardist Clint Boon. Several line-ups were loosely used from 1980 until Lambert and singer Stephen Holt met at The Moor End indie disco in Oldham 1983. Holt sang on the first two independent singles. Holt departed the band before they signed with Mute Records,Thompson, Dave (2000) ''Alternative Rock'', Miller Freeman, , p.425-427 Inspiral Carpets was known for using organs and distorted guitars with influences from psychedelic rock. Madchester
Madchester was a musical and cultural scene that developed in the English city of Manchester in the late 1980s, closely associated with the indie dance scene. Indie-dance (sometimes referred to as indie-rave) saw artists merging indie music with elements of acid house, psychedelia and 1960s pop. The term Madchester was coined by Factory Records' Tony Wilson, with the label popularised by the British music press in the early 1990s, and its most famous groups include the Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Inspiral Carpets, the Charlatans, James and 808 State. ''Dung 4'' is a demo album by the British indie rock band Inspiral Carpets. It was first released in May 1989 on Inspiral Carpets' own Cow Records and only on cassette. The name refers to the catalogue number. In 2014, it was announced that ''Dung 4'' would be re-released on vinyl and CD on Cherry Red Records on 19 and 28 April respectively, with the contents of Inspiral Carpets' earlier demo EP ''Cow'', as bonus tracks. On the LP version, ''Cow'' was included as a bonus 7-inch EP, while on the CD its tracks were appended to the end of the ''Dung 4'' program. A second vinyl reissue of ''Dung 4'' was released on the Tiger Bay label in Europe, containing the entire contents of both demos on a single album. ''Inspiral Carpets'' is the fifth studio album by the British indie rock band Inspiral Carpets, of the same name, released on 20 October 2014. The album is their first in 20 years; and the first full-length album in the band's history to feature founding vocalist Stephen Holt, who replaced Tom Hingley following Hingley's departure from the band. It is also the band's final album with drummer Craig Gill, before his death in 2016. It was announced in January 2014 on the official Inspiral Carpets web site. The track list was revealed in their July 2014 email newsletter. ''Life'' is the first studio album by the British indie rock band Inspiral Carpets. It was released on 23 April 1990 by Cow Records, through Mute Records, during the period dubbed Madchester by the British media. The group released three singles from this album: "Move", "This Is How It Feels" and "She Comes in the Fall", with the latter two in different versions from those found on the album. It was reissued in 2013 with the ''PlaneCrash'' and ''TrainSurfing'' EPs and an unreleased John Peel session as bonus tracks, plus the ''21790'' live video on a bonus DVD. The 2013 reissue is based on the original UK CD release. A slightly modified version of ''Life'' was released in North America.
