Coventry Blaze NIHL are a British ice hockey team based in Coventry, England. They are the NIHL affiliate of Coventry Blaze of the EIHL The Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL), sometimes referred to as the British Elite League or, for sponsorship reasons, the Viaplay Elite League, is an ice hockey league in the United Kingdom. Formed in 2003 following the demise of the Ice Hockey .... The team started life as Coventry Blaze (ENL) in 2007, changing their name to Coventry Blaze NIHL ahead of the 2012–13 season. The team often provides many juniors competitive ice time. The team withdrew from the 2019–20 season, after being unable to replace the players that had left during the off-season, returning to NIHL action ahead of the 2020–21 season. Coventry Skydome
Coventry Skydome is a 3,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Coventry, England. History Ice Hockey The arena is the current home of Elite League ice hockey franchise the Coventry Blaze. Ice Skating The arena hosts classes from the International School of Skating. Professional Wrestling The arena hosted several large professional wrestling shows not long after its opening, and established itself on the British wrestling circuit. In 2005, the venue hosted a WWE event, and a couple of years later hosted TNA Wrestling and Pro Wrestling Noah events in 2008, with TNA returning to the venue as part of its Maximum Impact tour in 2010. The club was founded in 1965 as the ''Solihull Barons'' and renamed to ''Solihull Blaze'' in 1996. At the turn of the millennium the club relocated to the SkyDome Arena, Coventry and became ''Coventry Blaze''. It is currently the second tier of British ice hockey, below the Elite Ice Hockey League. The Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL), sometimes referred to as the British Elite League or, for sponsorship reasons, the Viaplay Elite League, is an ice hockey league in the United Kingdom. Formed in 2003 following the demise of the Ice Hockey Superleague, it is the highest level of ice hockey competition in the United Kingdom.
