''Course of Empire'' is the debut self-titled album from the industrial/alternative rock band of the same name. The album was originally released on Dallas based Carpe Diem Records and sold over 5000 copies in the city alone. All songs were written by Course of Empire and produced by David Castell (Blue October, Burden Brothers, Deep Blue Something, SouthFM). Course Of Empire (band)
Course of Empire was an industrial/alternative rock band based in Dallas, Texas, from 1988 to 1998. The band's final incarnation consisted of founding members vocalist Vaughn Stevenson, guitarist Mike Graff, and bassist Paul Semrad. The band also consisted of two drummers throughout their existence, with Chad Lovell and Michael Jerome as the final duo. The band released three studio albums over ten years, with one each on the labels Carpe Diem, Zoo Entertainment (who also re-issued the band's debut album), and TVT Records. History First studio album and major label signing (1988–1993) Guitarist Mike Graff and drummer Anthony Headley had both attended Southern Methodist University in the 1980s. Industrial Rock
Industrial rock is a fusion genre that fuses industrial music and rock music. It initially originated in the 1970s, and drew influence from early experimental and industrial acts such as Cromagnon, Throbbing Gristle, Einstürzende Neubauten and Chrome. Zoo Entertainment was an American record label formed in 1990 by Lou Maglia. Zoo released three platinum records by the group Tool (band), Tool, as well as gold records by Green Jellÿ and Matthew Sweet. During the record company's early years, music industry executive George Daly (music executive), George Daly was the label's original Vice President of A&R. History The label was formed in 1990 by Lou Maglia, former president of Island Records. As early as 1993, Zoo was having financial difficulties. The record label also distributed Gamble & Huff's Philadelphia International Records for a short time. David Castell
David Castell is an American record producer, musician, and recording engineer based in Dallas, Texas. Castell's recording career spans nearly three decades; his work with many major record labels and independent labels alike includes both platinum-selling national recording artists and unsigned regional acts, and a wide range of musical genres. He has been instrumental in career albums of Blue October, Burden Brothers, Course of Empire, Deep Blue Something, and SouthFM. In spring 2008, Castell began production of the Toadies’ album '' No Deliverance'', which was released on August 19th, 2008, on Kirtland Records. ''Initiation'' is the second full-length album by American industrial/alternative rock band Course of Empire. All songs were written by Course of Empire and production by David Castell. While many CDs of the same era contained a hidden track after the finish of the listed tracks, usually preceded by a span silence, Course of Empire and David Castell managed to fit three on ''Initiation''. "Running Man" was hidden in the pregap of the CD, which nearly caused legal action when another producer/engineer claimed that he had patented the use of the pregap for audio information. The "Darwin Goodwin Mix" of the song "Infested" was hidden after "The Chihuahuaphile" (which was track 23 -the number of The Illuminati, after a cross fade that counted up the tracks between it and "Initiation"). SouthFM is an American alternative rock band based in Dallas, Texas. They formed in 2000 and disbanded in October 2006. The band officially released two full-length albums, ''Drama Kids'' (2003) and ''Swallowing the Pill'' (2005). The band reunited for one concert in June 2010, and played more shows in November 2010. As of 2016 they have reformed and are working on a new album.
